So I was inspecting my breast buds recently, as 1 has grown MUCH bigger than the other (like more than double). I was gently rolling it (the bigger 1) between my fingers when suddenly I noticed a droplet of whitish liquid on the tip of the nipple. I GENTLY squeezed it (cuz they're sensitive as HELL!) & some fluid came squirting out in a tiny stream; not like a pimple, kinda like a mini squirt gun! I tried the smaller 1 & it did the same thing, just not near as much. Is this a normal part of breast development, at least for MTF? I already have a small amount of breast tissue growing around the buds, & I've had the buds since puberty 20ish yrs ago (they grew & never went away), dunno if either of those things make any difference as to why this might be happening. I'm on spiro & estradiol via patch, & my dosages haven't changed since starting HRT 5 1/2 wks ago...

It can happen but normally it ends pretty quick as your body adjust to estrogen. There have been a few girls that needed to wear nursing pads because of the amount of leakage but that's pretty uncommon.

Oh ok. I thought it may have had something to do with the 1 bud being sooo much bigger than the other til they both did it... Honestly, it was shocking at first, but it also made me EXTREMELY HAPPY, cuz they're not just ugly male nipples anymore - they're really becoming breasts!! Ahhh!!! I'm starting to think I'll never stop smiling! [emoji4]

It's not milk as it takes  months for the breast to prepare for that. I tried looking for a name but all I could find was nipple discharge. If it's bloody, it should be checked out but it can be several different colors.

Yea I didn't think it was actual milk. & It's clearish-whitish. It seemed to relieve a little pressure tho, as they weren't quite as tender after. I have to wear a soft tank top all the time tho cuz they're so damned sensitive!

Mine leak occasionally as well.  Don't worry about one being bigger than the other, mine have traded places in the great boob race several times already and I expect it will continue.

Oh that's good to hear! I was nervous something might have been off, as they'd been the same size since I was a teenager, then I started HRT & 1 frickin' blew up, lol. I thought EVERYONE grew em in puberty, too; my whole life I had no idea what they were...

Your manipulation of the breasts (nipples) (which stimulate the release of oxytocin) combined with increased prolactin secretion due to estrogen account for the leakage. Progesterone actually inhibits this.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Ah I see! Now is this something I SHOULDN'T do? Cuz like I said it SEEMED to feel better, like some pressure was relieved, but it's also possible that it may have been in my head... Like I might've THOUGHT that they felt  better because I know that popping a pimple relieves the pressure... I def try to avoid fiddling w/ them, as they are so damned sensitive...
Kinda funny... I live w/ a trans guy & when this happened (the squirt, lol), I was like "HOLY S***!!" & excitedly told him what just happened. He grimaced & said "Girlfriend, I'm happy for you that your boobs are coming along, but that's gross! I'm so glad I got rid of mine!" Haha! It's rather humorous, we often joke about how we wish we could just trade our body parts, Lol!

Hello,

I am just beginning my journey and just learning as much as i can about all the possibilities.
When people are on HRT how much can breasts actually develop and how much are the nipples changing?
Guys have very small useless nipples and most female nipple are much bigger.
Do these develop with the boobs?

i hope this is not too personal?

I've come to learn you can't get hung up on personal on this topic too much when it comes the body itself. It's just sort of the reality of the situation.

Ill let someone more qualified answer the nipple question.

Haha trust me, sister, NOTHING is too personal w/ me! [emoji6] You can ask me anything, but if you're nervous about it just PM me. I'm not too far into my journey (5 1/2 wks), but things are moving quite quickly. I'll do my best to help, & if it's not something I've experienced yet, then there are many others have here who have & I'm sure will be more than happy to help!
I've heard that trans women on HRT will rarely exceed a small C cup. I've also heard that your breasts could end up being one size less than the genetic females in your immediate family. Breast augmentation is an option down the road, but it's best to wait 1-2 yrs after starting HRT to see where you end up. Also, breast development pretty much stops after 3 yrs on HRT.
As for nipples, I've heard the areolas will expand, thus being larger overall.
You will notice small, hard lumps form inside the nipple. These are breast buds. Actual breast tissue will then begin to form around them. This is the extent of my personal knowledge on breast development, as this is the stage I'm at. My nipples are permanently erect, & are beginning to expand. I've also got a small amount of breast tissue forming around the buds, like the size of a croissant, lol!
Again, this is what I've HEARD & experienced thus far. I hesitate to say more as I don't know for certain... Yet!

Thank you very much Jessi. You are so sweet :).
This does clarify a few things and is VERY interesting and exciting!
Incredible that the body can transfer in this way.
I think i have to talk to a doctor really soon.

Thanks!! I try. [emoji4] & you are so right, the changes HRT causes are AMAZING!! My hips are filling out, my waist is shrinking, my skin & hair (what's left) are so soft, my face looks much more feminine... & I've only just begun! I never thought it was possible for hormones alone to cause such amazing, wondrous changes!! [emoji28]

I'm not sure what the rules/laws are in your area, or what the doctors in your area require, but I know some people have to get recommendation letters from a therapist in order to start HRT. I found an awesome clinic that doesn't require this. They specifically focus on women's & LGBTQ people's health, & have a very comfortable, friendly atmosphere. It def pays to shop around!

Hope everything works out for you ASAP! I didn't realize you can't PM as a new member either, sorry about that. Message me when you can if you want.
Much love![emoji178]

A myth with no scientific support. Genetic females in one's family can have different breast sizes. ;)

Not true. I've been on HRT since 2004 and I had a major GROWTH SPURT in 2013/2014 and then some shrinkage later. Breasts will continually shrink and grow for your entire lifetime, depending on a host of factors, namely hormones taken, environmental circumstances, age, metabolism diet, other medications taken, exercise, stress levels, etc.

Ciswomen's breasts never remain as they are.

QuoteAs for nipples, I've heard the areolas will expand, thus being larger overall.

Slightly thicker nipples and larger, darker areolas after 13 yrs HRT. Progesterone **may** help in addition to estrogen.

very true.  14 months in and I'm a 34C most of the time and the cis women in my family range from As to EEs boobs.  My breasts also change size and shape depending on how much water I'm retaining, if I forget to take my progesterone, and my diet and how much alcohol I'm consuming.

Haha thanks for setting all that straight!! Thats why I put that I've "heard" these things. I hope someone someday will publish a trans encyclopedia... There's far too much anecdotal stuff out there that many of us take as fact cuz we lack legitimate resources. I suppose such a thing would be hard to accomplish as we are all so different. That "YMMV" thing seems to be the rule of thumb when it comes to HRT!

I've read the things that I passed along from several different sources, including the AskTransgender ->-bleeped-<- & posts on trans forums (including Susan's). I wouldn't pass along something I'd only read once, not that reading it in several places makes it fact by any means!

I always took the thing about women in your family to be a potentiality anyway. My endo actually told me the bit about breasts no longer growing after 3 yrs, but I think perhaps I interpreted it as "DONE growing" when she actually meant "PROBABLY won't change all that much." Honestly I had no idea that breasts shift that much in size/shape because of those factors, either!! So cool!

Again, thank you both for the info. I shall certainly make sure I'm more careful about what I say in the future. Like I said there's a lot of anecdotal (mis)information, & I def don't want to contribute to that and/or mislead someone! :)

God I love this Place! I've learned so much, & y'all are so eager to share your knowledge! Thanks so much!
Much love! [emoji178]

You know that I am a very old timer and was treated under older medical standards. I was off HRT for about 10 years and when I resumed it, my treatments used the newer estradiol tablets at about twice the maintenance dosage I was previously on. Within about a month, my breast started growing again and seem to be still growing after 2 years. My reason for returning was to restore my facial fat which is happening but reshaping of my body wasn't a concern. As I am not on a full dose, I have no idea how much longer it will go on but development can go on for a long time.
