I just saw on the evening news that the Trump ban on transgender people in the military had been blocked.

"The suit against the ban is likely to succeed."

News story on the decision:

Court partially blocks Trump's transgender military ban

TheHill.com
BY REBECCA KHEEL - 10/30/17 01:00 PM EDT

http://thehill.com/policy/defense/357827-court-partially-blocks-trumps-directive-on-transgender-military-ban

"A federal court has blocked President Trump in part from changing the military's transgender policy as a case against his ban works its way through court.

"A judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled Monday that Trump's directive changing the transgender policy back to what it was before June 2016 and banning new transgender recruits from enlisting cannot be enforced while the case is being reviewed in court.

"However, the judge denied the plaintiff's motion to block the ban on funds for gender reassignment surgery.

"In a 76-page memo accompanying the ruling, Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly wrote that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed in their case arguing the transgender ban violates their Fifth Amendment right to due process."

For all you hardcore law geeks, here's a link to the Judge's Memorandum Opinion (76 pages!) explaining her ruling today:

I was hoping someone out there would see that the ban was really full of holes in litigation terms and point this out.

Yes, good news.  I'm using it as a topic to guage who would be supportive and who would not.  So far, dad would not:(
you know how far the universe extends outward? i think i go inside just as deep.

10/11/18 - out to the whole world.  100% friends and family support.
11/6/17 - came out to sister, best day of my life
9/5/17 - formal diagnosis and stopping DIY in favor if prescribed HRT
6/18/17 - decided to stop fighting the trans beast, back on DIY.
Too many ups and downs, DIY, purges of self inbetween dates.
Age 10 - suppression and denial began
Age 8 - knew I was different

Just read about this!! The plain and simple fact is that all the 'evidence' for the ban was based on flat out incorrect and flawed information, which the military itself has already stated.

  Bari Jo,

Don't be discouraged by your dad's reactions to news on the ban. Family members may change their views (good or bad) when they find out that a member of their own family is one of us. I would give him the benefit of the doubt until he actually  has had time to absorb your revelations when it happens. Love if one's children is a very strong thing and he could very well surprise you.

Hugs,

Thanks. , after getting lots of suggestions from my other thread on this.  I will still come out to him.  Sorry to comment on this thread about it.  It really upset me when he made the "those people" comment.  I think I'm jumping the gun counting him out already.

Back on topic, very happy that the ban is blocked!
