Welcome to Susan's Place. It's hard to guess exactly what will happen to your body on HRT but some things are possible. The HRT package normally contains a testosterone blocker which will reduce muscle bulk over a year or two. This may also result in regaining recently lost hair. Hair that has been missing for a long time most likely will not regrow but options such as hair transplants exist and they may restore your hair line. As for scarring, the will remain however careful clothing selection may help with that.

On the other hand, there are muscular women, women with hair loss and women whose body have been scarred over the years. Most women have their flaws but over the years they have learned how to diminish them. Perfection isn't required to be accepted as feminine.

Well, I'm 48. Luckily I didn't inherit the balding genes nor have I been muscular.  On the other hand, good god I'm tall (6'3") weighing in at 160 with big feet (13 men's).   I will never be 20 again so those feminine years are past me.  However, there are plenty of lovely ladies (CIS and Trans) 40+.

Try not to dwell on the "what ifs," but instead focus on being the best possible YOU that you can be.  Once you get that going on the inside, it will radiate to the outside.  Muscle mass will decrease, nothing wrong with quality wigs (you'll shed less which is good).  Grow from the inside out and you will rock it.

Hrt can do wonders for you. If you have the money do hair transplants for the male pattern baldness a wig is also a alternative. The question about the muscle bulk. I also worked out and did body building. Used steroids and got real big. With hrt and proper training you could lose all that muscle I saw it in a lot of girls. It unfortunatly takes time. It took me almost two years to shake most of it off and I still carry some of it around my arms and legs. Woman come in all shapes and sizes. Woman have scars too. Good luck

I don't know anyone personally who has this experiance to guide me .

I am actually glad that I transitioned in the same place.  We had lived here (a small fishing village, population maybe 300) for two years before I came out.  In that time, we became established in the community, met neighbours, and made friends.  I was known as a good, upstanding person, willing to get involved.  So, when I transitioned, people in the community had some relationship energy invested in me that they would have lost had they been nasty to me.

If I had parachuted into a new community as the "new trans person", people would have had nothing to lose in being nasty.  I think it would have been harder to make friends and volunteer in the community in that situation.

Of course, this partly depends on the community.  YMMV.

Unless you live in a really terrible place, I would suggest not moving. I had no choice and I had to move in order to find the medical care I needed. I left friends and family behind to live in a city I didn't know. Life was doctor appointments, work then spending the remainder of my time in my apartment waiting for something I needed to do. Even one friend would have been welcome at that point. It might be a little difficult explaining this to other at first but we have heard of very few problems as the result of coming out. Most of the time if a person can't deal with it, they eliminate themselves from your life so the problem is solved.
