My question is as follows:
Should I split the progy dosage? For instance, take a 2mg pill in the afternoon and one more before going to bed?

P.S. As it is not exactly about the dosage itself but rather the way of taking it, I think this particular question would be allowed here.

Dividing the daily dose is not necessary.

The biological half life of Progesterone is about 16 hours for most routes of administration and a little longer for intramuscular injection. With a half life that long, once a day dosing is just fine and little can be gained by dividing the daily dose.

Agreed,  if you're on a single daily dose,  then splitting isn't required. I started at that,  and when it was doubled I then took one morning,  and one evening to minimise big spikes. X
