This doesn't effect veterans or military retirees but it's a step in the right direction for active duty military personnel and ultimately the rest of us.  The Veterans Administration has been providing services to transgender patients for several years.  V.A. Transgender clinics have opened in Cleveland, Tucson, and Seattle and many other V.A, medical centers throughout the country provide counseling, support groups, HRT, and laser hair removal but surgical procedures are not currently authorized by the V.A. or Tricare beneficiaries. When a veteran has legally changed their name there's a process to change it within the V.A. and Depart of Defense bureaucracies.  I believe that it's important for us to continue to make our voices heard with our elected officials and veterans support groups by contacting them, making ourselves known to them as a well informed constituents and voting.
