Still waiting for life things to get done so I can start transitioning properly. Meanwhile some budgeting for current needs came up and I need to figure out how much I need to keep aside for HRT and electrolosis. I have a little saved up but it's looking like I might need to make some budgeting cuts on a few things to make it through to summer with my current goals.
So cost estimates for electrolosis and different forms of HRT are missing in my plan. Oh that and sperm banks - might as well get that over and done with I would like a kid some day and would like to give them the best chance of being healthy.
I know the HRT stuff will depend on what doctor says. For reference im probably going to do most of this here in Washington state and I have practically non existent health insurance so with that in mind what are some other expenses I should look out for?

This is going to be a hectic year. *sigh* gee wouldn't it be nice if I could put this off till I get a full time job? To bad going to do it now on top of a few classes so I can get work that pays decent to afford the big ticket stuff down the line.
At least it feels good to work on the problem.

Sorry, wish I knew what the costs were for hrt without insurance but as for electrolysis, they usually run around $65-$80 per hour and is very dependent on the skill of the operator.  If you want, I can give you an excellent electrolygist in Seattle.  I recommend though that if you are a candidate, do laser first and it will be cheaper, faster, and remove more hair initially.  Groupon has a bunch and I found Serenity restoration and spa in Bellevue to be a good one.

No idea on sperm banking though, sorry.

Would love a recommendation! How many hours does it take to clear and how often do you need to go between clear s? Considerd laser but from my research it can be a coinflip to weather or not it does anything permanently. I'm in the camp of no gambling on money I don't have so I wrote it off(though It is very tempting). Thanks for the response!
Currently things look grim for my ideal plan going to have to dig up more money grrr.
Well I might have a few options for that gotta count how much cash I have stashed was a decent amount last I checked. And bug family about getting access to what savings I have in my name..... I know I have some college savings so I should be able to put the classes I want to take on that......... *Serious number crunching noises*

I seem to remember seeing sperm banking somewhere in the $1200 range, don't take that to the bank. Ms random name gotta be living someplace cheaper than I do, electrolysis in Boston runs $150/hr, laser $175. I've seen much higher, not much lower and my electrologist worked amazingly fast with something like 30 years experience. I take injected estradiol valerate, I've seen pricing in the $80/ vial range, I'm lucky that a 5cc vial lasts me several months though even at the highest doses I've heard it would last a couple months.

I've only done clearing of my surgical site and that took 16 hours over 7 months. My electrologist was a bit overzealous and so I have a full lower permanent bikini wax which fortunately I'm happy about (there were a lot of phone calls and some paperwork but it was all done by insurance.

About 3-4 weeks needed between clearings, but you'll be going weekly, it's a process of working through new and old areas each visit. I've heard numbers between 100-200 hours for facial clearing by electrolysis, definitely reconsider laser as it is permanent at least with the newer dual- wavelength machines, you just need more clearings to get there. I chose electrolysis for similar reasons as you say however more than half of my hair is grey and I felt the risks were much higher, not wanting to deal with hair in my vagina later on.

Health insurance is hell seriously never mind - back to paying everything out of pocket I am mildly anoyed at the uselessness of public health care....I'm pretty good about digging through information but I simply cannot find a nice big file full of what is covered in each category.
Going to look into laser a bit then - most of what I read was a few years old and I do have dark hair.

So I can vouch for http://www.lotuselectrolysisseattle.com/ and I've heard good things about http://expertelectrolysis.com/ as well but I really really think you should do laser first if you want to save money.

Laser is considered permanent hair reduction while electrolysis is permanent hair removal.  People (including myself at first) misunderstand this.  Laser actually removes some hair permanently as long as it is dark hair against lighter skin and the proper laser (Nd:YAG is usually what you want to look for, IPL isn't always effective, Alexandrite is good for large areas, etc.) is used.

I guess the best example would be something like if you had a 100 hairs on your face, after about 10 sessions (11 for me)  You would probably permanently lose 70 of those hairs.  The rest that are either resistant or keep coming back (hence the wording of permanent reduction v. permanent removal), etc are the ones you want to finish off with electrolysis.  10 sessions with groupon would cost maybe about $600 or so and if get laser once a month, it would take 10 months to do.

As for electrolysis, you would need to spend an average of 200-300 hours for a full clear.  That means at the median price of $70 per hour, it would take about  $14,000 to $21,000 for a full clear.  Anyway, that's my thought on it.

As for me, I've had 11 sessions of laser before I had to move to electrolysis.  So far, I've probably have only had about 14 hours of electrolysis and don't really have that much left to go.  Just remember that hair can only be killed during the anagen phase (active growth) if it is in the catagen or telogen phase, it'll grow back.  Anyway, hope that helps!

For my HRT in pill form, I pay between $30-$45 a month, depending on discounts I find. I've seen others saying they get it for much cheaper, but Walmart is as cheap as it gets where I am (I've shopped around).
If you're a candidate for laser, definitely check for a groupon. Some laser places have amazing starter deals on their own, too. I got 6 laser treatments for my face for only about $170 on groupon.
I'm currently looking to electrolysis (laser won't get everything for me - too much gray already), and I'm seeing between $50-$150 / hour. This is something that takes a lot of hours over many months to years, usually. You can get a one time, all day clearing of everything, but it's pretty expensive all at once.

The upfront lab work for HRT will cost between a couple hundred and a thousand dollars. My spiro was $11 and my estradiol was $80 when it was patches, when I switched to oral E my cost dropped to $15.
