the past two weeks i've been super happy because most of my facial hair had shed since my last laser treatment.  My face hasn't been this smooth since I was 11.  But yesterday it started coming back in a couple of spots.  And this morning my chin needed shaving.

Little victories and patience, I guess...

It does help hearing from other girls that this process works.  thank you

It takes persistence.  For me, the hardest part was knowing when to transition from laser to electrolysis on the face.  I was way too worried about the pain of electrolysis, which, though real, wasn't really that much worse than laser in my experience.

Once you're seeing mostly lights (blond, gray), it's time to go.  I didn't get anywhere near clear until I did some regular electrolysis.  I have a bunch of lights coming back now, but I've not done any maintenance for 9 or 10 months.  I shave them every few weeks and I'm good to go.

i'm thinking that after thanksgiving i might stop the electrolysis and start doing laser on my chest instead.  i thought i'd be able to get my chest and abdomenal area cleared faster with regular 1 hr electrolysis apts than doing laser, which would take up to a year (with appointments every 6 weeks).  Elecrolysis is slow going though.  After 5 appointments only the very top of my chest is cleared.  Hairs pop back in the area last cleared, and part of each session is going back over the same area again, before clearing new.

why is this soooo damn hard?   :'(   And painful

I've had 50 hours of electrolysis just on my face. It takes a looooooong time and you need to keep going back regularly to hit the regrowth hairs, which will be weaker each time they are zapped.

I may have made a bit of a mistake not trying professional laser on my face. I tried the Tria laser, and it hurt a lot, and caused what seems to be permanent discoloration in a few places, and didn't even noticeably reduce the hair. It did get reduce the hair on my hands and arms quite a bit, and my chest somewhat though.

Electrolysis on the upper lip is so hard though, and the one area I want cleared the most. My chin and neck did have a lot of gray, but my upper lip is mostly dark. Has anyone switched back to laser after electrolysis? Is there a recommended timing between doing this?

I did hair removal almost completely before HRT.  One thing I will add to the conversation is that HRT itself does wonders for hair on the arms and legs.  My legs were clear before HRT, but my arms only about 1/2 way.  After 6 months on HRT, they look about the same.  I still shave once every 2-3 months, but that's it.

You will always be fighting the face.  I did some laser along with electrolysis in the end because my electrologist did both.  If I showed up with relatively more course dark growth, she would laser, then move to electrolysis for the fine and the light.  It's "gone enough" now for my tastes, but I still shave every few weeks to get the strays.  So do a lot of women.  Win.

It sounds like you havent been on HRT long enough. It takes a while for it to help. If your on spiro and some kind of esto i would give it time. Especially because you just started spiro
