Guys: Do you use urinals or stalls?

Too funny lol. Thank you for asking this... I have been wondering myself, and wondering how many stalls there are in men's toilets. What if there's only one, and someone is using it to do a number 2, and you really need to pee?

That said, how many people use pee funnels?
Places like University you learn which bathrooms have more stalls and which bathrooms are less likely to be crowded. Then you plan accordingly. There is at least a bathroom on every floor of a building so if a one stall bathroom is full you can just go to a different floor. Surprisingly some of the older buildings have more stalls than the newer ones.

Usually there is one stall or two in most regular mens' rooms unless it's someplace like a nightclub or airport with tons of people constantly using.

I'm fortunate that the convenience store where I work has single use bathrooms, so I don't have to worry about any strangers coming through.

For day to day bathroom use, I tend to try to time my going when it's emptier so I'm less likely to have run ins (I dont get out much so this is not an issue). I always take a stall so if someone does walk in I can just be standing to them, not sitting.

The way I do it is I pull my pants halfway (or all the way, even if it's going to look weird to people outside) down, I stand directly over the toilet bowl, usually I lean forward so my feet are in front of the bowl but my crotch is directly above it, that way I'm standing but everything is hitting it's mark typically at the rim, gotta be careful to take it slow and not to splash!

I DID go to the concert once and used the men's room, lines were packed, I had to refuse the urinal that opened up and let the guy behind me go but I guess nobody thought anything of it, and if they did they couldnt give more than a passing thought. I had my STP at the time which made that experience super easy to handle, boom, done.

I currently just use stalls! I haven't been able to invest in a good STP device.

i haven't tried packing yet, nor any stp device, and i don't "pass" to go into the men's room anyway... so i just pray for a gender-neutral restroom or hold it when i'm out in public because i can't stand to go into the ladies' room.

I've always grabbed a stall - why not avail yourself of some privacy?  Even to take a whizz.  But I'm different that way.  Transitioning as I am I do sit down more and more these days, at home especially.

Men have no qualms about using urinals; but they also don't spend time pondering why someone is just urinating while sitting down.  Guys might check out what you're packing, though.  An episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm had Larry and Richard staring in amazement at the well hung guy standing between them.

Don't forget to say not word one.  An article on urinals listed the four types that might speak while you're doing your business:  Friends, Weird Dudes, Weird Dads (weddings), Cell Phone Dudes.   :D  That jibes with my experiences.

Haha! I find it weird that women speak to each other, look at each other etc...!!! (I mean strangers.) Last time I used a public toilet (years ago...), had to line up with the women... (didn't pass!!!), felt absolutely MORTIFIED!!!!!! Wanted so bad to just escape to the men's (plus there wasn't a line at all, of course) - absolutely one of the worst moments of my life... And the women kept looking at me - and spoke to me there,  :o!

The other one I don't grasp is that there are multiple warnings for trans men to NOT use the urinal right next to somebody!!! I'm always like - WHO would do that  :o?!? And not just bcos being trans might make you vulnerable - I mean in general. Who wouldn't want some privacy?? I've heard the same with locker rooms... 'Don't take the locker immediately next to someone; don't talk...' etc.

For those of you who have more experience - I'd like to know if (guy) friends really speak in a bathroom? Or not? And I mean just friends.

Same with swimming halls etc... I just rather imagine no one's paying attention to the fact that you may be naked etc... and not interact with each other!

I've never used a urinal. Using a urinal is such a totally male thing that I never wanted any part of it. Women talk to me in the ladies room all the time. It's just usual female talk. Telling me they like the way I do my eyeliner, asking where I got my boots or other article of clothing, asking if this is the natural color of my hair, etc.  When I still used the guys bathroom no one talked and the men seemed to pretty much ignore each other.  They also did their business and left. They don't spend time in front of the mirror. They seem to want to do what they have to and go. Women definitely spend more time in the bathroom. They check everything in the mirror, adjust their makeup, etc.

Before I transitioned I got a lot of looks in the guy's bathroom. Confused looks, hostile looks, and sometimes a smirk. But surprisingly I never had anyone actually say anything to me. There was one time when I went into the guys bathroom at the mall a few months ago. As a lot of the ladies here know, when you take large doses of spironolactone you pee a lot. Try to ignore the need to pee too long and it suddenly turns into " find a bathroom NOW or wet yourself". I was at that point and the ladies room was out of order. I was still going to use it but they had locked the door! So it was either use the mens room or wet myself. There were 2 guys in there when I went in like a white blur. I don't know what the one guy said but I heard the other one say the ladies room was out of order. They were gone when I came out of the stall thankfully.

Yeah. Once while traveling as a kid my mom took me to the men's room only bcos we were in a such a hurry - and ofc there was a HUGE line to the women's! There was this one man who looked quite confused, but didn't say anything. What I can tell from my scarce experiences, I've gotten those 'confused/half scared' looks from men in the bathroom if I haven't passed that well... But no one has ever said anything to me!

I've also heard said that the guys' room is for 'everyone' - whereas women freak out if a man walks in there. But this might vary in countries/different places.

But at least from my experiences I have a sense trans guys fear in vain to step into the bathroom. Men usually don't talk - and don't say anything. (Even if they thought something.) I haven't got the nerve to step into one, though, if I feel I absolutely do not pass. But I guess even if I did, no one would say anything... probably,  ;).

I'm more scared of the ladies who talk to me there! Always have,  ;D! Like in the swimming hall as a kid... these older women will take the locker just next to you, etc...! And talk!! Even if both parties are naked/half-naked! - I've always felt kind of 'exposed' at those moments  ;D! I just prefer being ignored.... like I wasn't there - especially if nude!

I've always had this 'etiquette' in my mind that in places like swimming halls/locker rooms, where people might be naked & vulnerable, everyone should just mind their own business and pretend not to see other people! Born a guy, I guess,  ;)!

But I can understand how awkward the other men would feel if a trans guy started chatting them in a locker room setting,  ;D!!!

OMG! I have to add - I found this totally news to me  :o!!! I never knew they'd go that far  ;D!!! I just can't imagine men doing that........

And I was just freaked out by the women who spoke to me a little. I don't know. Maybe I just find it somewhat weird that people would chat with strangers in those kind of places... Like I said in the last post. Like I said - cis male brain... :D

It seems like guys don't really like talking to each other in some situations.  Tyler and my dad were talking about this " weird" guy at the gym. I asked what was weird about him and they said he talked to anyone next to him during his work out. I asked what was weird about that and my brother told me guys don't like talking to each other a lot while they were working out. He said even he and my dad don't talk much when they work out. I thought that was the whole point of going to the gym together! I've said this before, guys are so weird. I will never really understand them. Lol

That happens a lot actually. You have to remember that if women are with a group of friends they go to the bathroom as a group. My friends always go to the public bathrooms with me if they need to pee or not. You are definitely a guy. Lol

But yeah, I'd imagine that'd be one of the situations, yes.

Guys seem to be much less talkative in general. Unless it's something that interests them they don't seem to like talking. There have been times when I've been talking to Tyler or Tristan and they are looking at me and even nodding and saying uh-huh but I can totally tell they aren't listening to a word I'm saying.

Maybe all that could be called 'private things you do in a public space'  ;D. Including, but not limited to: using the bathroom, showering, being naked, dressing, working out...

So... like you wanna stay private sorta - and expect everyone else to respect your 'boundaries' by pretending you are invisible! Well, I don't go to the gym so don't have much experience on that, but... I can imagine people just wanna concentrate on what they are doing... And this same unspoken 'rule' applies there too!

Anyone been to the Pomona Fairgrounds in CA. Underneath the grandstand there are restrooms where you go in and pee on the wall.

Stadiums/arenas sometimes have troughs instead of discrete urinals, or toilets with stalls but no door, to curb drug usage and make them easier to clean, supposedly.  Let's not forget the cakes!

???

Urinals have little odor absorbing widgets - urinal cakes.  Talk about a puzzling choice of words.  Although "urinal puck" isn't any better...

Don't forget the urinal toys... splash mats with spinners.  lol

PWolf I have that fear you have about men's rooms but reversed I have only used the ladies room a couple time when the were other women in it. If there was ever a line OMG I would make a U-turn on the spot and be outta there. I went into one for the same reason you related I'd held it so long it was either go into the Walmart Store's ladies room or wet myself. I hurried in past a woman  coming out and ducked into the first stall and prayed I could get away without being discovered. This was just one of my minor adventures on my road trip. The DC area is so full of people it hard to find a private place anywhere.

Hugs,
