I buy 1 cc luer lock syringes and 1" 23 gauge needles in bulk from East Coast Medical.   The shorter needle helps draw up the liquid faster.   Larger needles chew up the rubber stopper over time.

They do. Add to that, they leave rubber pieces suspended in the vial. The likelihood of that being drawn into the syringe and injected based on the physical attributes the mechanics, it seems unlikely an issue might arise. Still... there is the concern that you may inject a foreign substance into the muscle. This is why I'm against 10 ml. vials. The convenience for the manufacturer does not equate to safety for us since the vial needs to be pierced so many times, it creates an issue with the viability of the stopper.
