I had a consultation with a different surgeon that I had scheduled with initially because my insurance will probably cover the hospital fees associated with this one. He was super nice, took a lot of time to talk to me about everything, has won a lot of awards for breast surgery related stuff, etc...but the one thing that made me a little wary is that he said, because he would have to resize my aerolas and do the free nipple grafting, that I would have NO sensation left in my nipples afterward, zero, zilch.

I don't really care all that much, but it struck me as a bit odd that he would so emphatically say that there would be no sensation left whatsoever. I've read that most guys, even those that get free nipple grafting, have at least some sensation come back down the road, but this guy said they will be totally numb.

What do you guys think?

I can't imagine having no feeling. Why get breast surgery only to make them bigger. But discard one of the best reasons to have them in the first place?

I think he is warning you about the worst possible outcome. I suspect what is possible is the sensation you might feel will come form the muscles underneath the skin. That means any sexual sensitivity will be gone but it might feel like skin elsewhere on the body. If you question this, I recommend that you ask a few more questions.

Maybe its just that how he does it - in which case you might want to find a different surgeon.

Did you find out what he meant - whether he was talking about how he does it, or whether it was talking about the risks?

I think he was just stating the worst possible outcome. Because for the DI procedure the surgeon cuts around the nipple to makr it smaller then cut around the areola completely detaching it from the nerves. They'll then staple the areola back on. From what I've heard from other guys on this forum after a few years sensation like tactile sensation/ able to notice temperature changes will likely come back but not so much sensual feeling. At least in no way as strong as it would have been pre op.

If he's qualified and has good results I wouldn't turn him down just bcos he said what he did. Although he may have been too blunt
