Did anyone hear about this? Sounds very promising... I wonder if they will ever do one of these transplants for a t-girl.

My mother and I actually chatted about this a while back, she knows how much I would like have a baby. She told me that pregnancy is frustrating and uncomfortable at times, but very rewarding. She just said to me, you do realize that it would mean I would get periods and they are not fun, just said I do realize that, but it allows me to have a baby, i don't mind.

Who knows maybe one day, I will get my wish.. A girl can dream.

Hi Noleen 🙋‍♀️ I would want this also.  I very much would love to be pregnant and give birth.  I think this is a possibility in the near future, but I'm 61 and it's too late for me.
From what I understand for trans-women, is an embryo is implanted in your uterus and give birth by caesarean.  I don't think periods will happen for us though.  Too bad, that is part of being a woman.

Theoretically periods could happen, but everything would have to be surgically wired to mirror the usual female reproductive pathway to minute detail. I'd wager that would be outside the scope of any early attempts at trans woman pregnancy, but something that may happen in the future as science progresses.

I truly believe we will get to a point with medical advancement within the next half century that future trans women will be able to conceive and give birth naturally (post procedure). Technique refinement, coupled with advancements in organ "growing"(cloning) and precision robotics, would be all that is necessary really. The larger issue will continue to be medical ethics(note that's not really ethics in the traditional sense) and funding.

I think for the whole thing to work, you need to menstruate, the woman with the transplanted uterus did menstruate before they implanted her.

So I think we would be able to get a period.. if we had this transplant done.

That would be awesome if true!  I would embrace it as part of womanhood gladly!

This has actually been happening the last few years overseas. It has yet to come to the U.S. and Canada. There is a t-girl in Texas already on some waiting list to get a transplant uterus. She has been waiting a while though. So I am sure that it will eventually come to our community. I know we will get a lot of kick back from some cis-women. They will say it's unnatural and not right because we are taking away there God given rights to be the only child bearers. I have read this on many other boards on this subject. So it will be great and we will face some adversity too.

This procedure makes me think, at a dna level the babies will not be yours right? I mean, the ovums are from the donor...

I want a baby too, maybe one day it will be possible

When we reach the point of viable uterine implants, this won't be an issue probably. It is probably going to be reality to have same sex couples with biological children from both parents in a matter of years be common place, which of course also applies to us. Though that assumes preserved sperm, at the transplant point we will probably have a way around that as well.

If give birth to it and you feel it moving inside you, it will be mine  My friend told me when she was pregnant it was amazing to feel the child inside you moving, she said she will gladly do it again.

I would also embrace this part of womanhood. Getting the monthly period is part of being a woman and its something that we miss out on. Yes, it may not be the most pleasant part, but it still part of being a woman. MY best friend says that menstrual cramps are not pleasant and she does cramp badly some months and some months she does bleed quite badly. She just says I got the best parts of womanhood.

But discovering that I am pregnant and then sharing that news with my husband would be amazing.

I've always hated the "trans women are lucky they don't have periods" thing, both from cis and trans women alike. Yeah, sure it sucks when it's happening, but it's just a small part of something so much grander I would give anything to be able to experience.
