Maddie, so proud of you for not giving in to that drink! I know from personal experience that is not an easy thing to do. Christmas is a hard time for most of us.

aw thank you everyone! I haven't totally given up drinking, I just don't do it very often. I had a couple a few nights ago to celebrate my friend's birthday. I might have a couple on new year's eve but then after that probably not for a while. I just can't let myself fall back into old habits!

I've been trying to manage my drinking too. I had a glass and a half of wine. Next time will be new years for me too when I drink maybe

Haven't had a moment to myself or any privacy to post or answer a few e-mails all day, been going at it non stop since yesterday preparing food. But I'm happy because it all turned out amazing and I survived!

I just had a chance encounter at the coffee counter. Both pots empty, of course. I was cleaning and filling them (so many employees seem to have an aversion). Anyways, this gal struck up a conversation about it with me, gave me a high-five (in relation to our conversation, not the coffee).

This may seem like nothing, to me it's a lot. I was never one that people would just start talking to. Quiet nods, missed eye contact, outright avoidance, that's all I'm used to.  This is happening more often. Subconsciously,  I am being noticed as being approachable, if not the 'why'.

This is a good thing ... I think ...
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

Last Saturday evening I was at a friend's house processing some pain stuff with a neat young lady. She brought up the well understood point of all of us needing to find our tribe, that group of folks that help us feel more full, complete and safe. Pondering that I realized that my friend's house was a safe place and they provided a big part of my "Tribe". I have also appreciated that you here at Susan's Place are all a big part of my tribe and help me to feel full and complete.....Thank you all.

Today was GREAT!

First, emptied out my storage unit, saving money next month.  Had to inform them of my leaving.  The lady at the desk told me to tell Steve thank you for using our storage area.  She didn't recognize me as Steve, so YAY!!!!!  She thought I was my wife Shelly, also on the lease.

Second, went to an old job, previous to where I just left, and reintroduced myself to my former coworkers.  I had one person recognize me immediately.  A couple say I looked familiar, but couldn't place me.  Most didn't recognize me at all.  The ones who thought I looked familiar were shocked at who I was.  All of the ones who knew me before said I look good, and happier than they've ever seen me.

Only one seemed to activly dislike my transition, my former supervisor.  Everyone else seemed to keep an open mind.

All the worlds a joke, and the people, merely punchlines

you know how far the universe extends outward? i think i go inside just as deep.

10/11/18 - out to the whole world.  100% friends and family support.
11/6/17 - came out to sister, best day of my life
9/5/17 - formal diagnosis and stopping DIY in favor if prescribed HRT
6/18/17 - decided to stop fighting the trans beast, back on DIY.
Too many ups and downs, DIY, purges of self inbetween dates.
Age 10 - suppression and denial began
Age 8 - knew I was different

I found a very cute peach-colored, cotton skirt at a secondhand store today for only $4.50. It's very full with pleats, just what I've been looking for for :) :)

I just got home from a nice dinner with a trans woman I'd met at my first group session on June 21, the day I started HRT. We finally had a chance to get together. She'd transitioned 25 years ago and had such cool stories. It was so comfortable hanging with her, with the sure knowledge that I wasn't going to be misgendered and was just another woman to her. She had such nice things to say about how my transition is going. My confidence is sky high. It's like hanging out with you all, but face to face. Feeling really good now.

Steph, that sounded like a great evening. I am all for going stealth with the general public but there is such a rewarding feeling finding a new person to add to you tribe. Time with those folks, tribe members, is just so fun, comfortable and safe. You are really doing well aren't you girl, good on you!

I can really understand the power of this. I was at the grocery store last week and a cashier called me "darling" - the word stayed with me for hours :)

Met up with a friend that I haven't seen in 11.5 years. He was very curious about what it means to be transgender. I was very patient with his questions and I just love that I was able to speak to him very easily, even though we were sitting outside a Starbucks in lower temperatures. I've really got to see him and his wife more often. Such a positive experience. :)
