Hi girls and guys 🙋‍♀️ I will be traveling to Denmark, Sweden (ancestral home) and back to Paris at the end of May.  I know that ymmv but I'm concerned I may not look the same as my passport picture while going through tsa.  My weight and height may change also.  There is a backlog on passports as it is, and I wouldn't have a representative pic in time.  My face is a bit plumper, no mustache and my hair will be longer than it is in my current passport pic.  Will it matter?  I'm considering getting a notation on my drivers license of non-binary (CA) to have just as a backup.

Thanks, Jessica  💁‍♀️

I have no idea about your question. But I wanted to welcome you to Sweden. Northern Sweden has a lot of snow. Middle and south non yet. Thought it could be good to know depending on where you will land. :)

Thank for the comment and welcome Tony!
I fly into Copenhagen and then drive to Gothenburg to maybe find records of where in Sweden my great grandfather was from before he set sail there to emigrate to the US in the 1800's.  From what I understand it was an island (the isle of ?).  Then take a train to Paris.

As long as your passport, id, and the flight ticket all have matching names your should be good. How many people change their looks throughout 10 years of a passport life? Now doing the gender marker on your CA license might help too if there are questions. Now you can answer me a question since you are in CA. Just PM me. What is the current process for gender marker change in CA? I had to ask. Oh if you dress in femme you will probably be identified as female and TSA will see an anomaly in the groin region. You will receive a pat down. I just traveled in October and had this twice. If your airport has the body scanners that is.

From what I've found is that all you need is a affidavit from your doctor stating you are undergoing  gender transition.  You don't have to even be on medication.  There are 3 genders now . Female, male and non-binary

Hi Jessica,

I have not found an issue with face changes from my passport picture, both local TSA as well as foreign inspection systems are very forgiving. Yes, gender incongruities may require pat downs but those have been discrete and not a problem for me.

I have never tried to change just my passport picture but just recently both my partner and I have gotten passport updates as well as a new one for me with both name and gender change. My partners passport renewal took one to two weeks, arriving here two weeks ago. My totally new passport with name and gender changes took two to three weeks getting here last week; both of those in the Christmas crazy season. If you desired a change in passport, you should be able to get it done well in advance of your late May travel date.

Enjoy your travels and good luck chasing your ancestry

We have two big islands. Öland is the smaller one and Gotland is larger. They are both on the east coast. Göteborg (Gothenburg) is on the west coast.

Check out google maps before you travel. Best way to avoid unwanted detours. :)

If you are coming during winter, and drive a car, change to winter tires before you start driving across the country. I have stubbed tires. The roads might not have a lot of snow, but plenty of ice. Drive safe. :)

Thanks again Tony!  I had heard it was a small island, with no clues except "Isle of ?"
What would be the most likely weather in southern Sweden in May?

Warm and sunny! Well. Warm. 10-15 degrees and sunny.

Isle of...

There are plenty of small islands along the west and east coast. Hard to know without more information. Maybe church books in Gothenburg from the year of departure?

That is my hope.
