High again all,

First yes its me in the pic and yes I look like I got boobs. I do have a little to start with and so a good bra, chicken fillets and good lighting do wonders, lol.

Anyway my question I posted a few days ago i removed but here goes again.

I am being put on HRT in about three weeks after the results of my blood tests. The GID doc said tjey would start me on Premira, I have read stuff about it and I don't like what I read. Anyway the question is what form of estrogen is best, if any? My doc did say I had a choice when I was at the clinic but I didn't know anything about premira so I said yes. Now looking at some research I want to change my mind.

Can anyone help?

It's made from horse's urine. Has many chemicals and creates chemicals that your body can't use. It's isn't bio-identical hormones which means it's a foriegn hormone for the human body.

It's very hard on the liver, high risk of blood clots, stroke etc....


It can give you good results but the problem with it is obviously the health risks.

Bio-identical hormones such as Estradiol and estrofem which is 17b-estrogen has MUCH lower risk than all other hormones. Even when taken orally it is well-tolerated by the liver, doesn't mean it can cause liver toxicity it just a lot more safe. I believe estrogens such as ethnyl estrogen carries a risk of 1000x more than bio-identical hormones.

Bio hormones when taken through the blood stream by injection, sublingually, patches or gel are much safer than orals.

There are four types of oestrogen available for HRT:

1. Conjugated oestrogen is made from an animal source, usually pregnant mare's urine;
2. Ethynil Estradiol which contains extra bits in the molecule to slow absorption and make it much stronger;
3. 17Beta Estradiol which is basically identical to human oestrogen;
4. Estradiol Valerate, which is also bio-identical except for a little bit of valeric acid attached to it.

The first two have a number of increased health risks associated because of all the extra molecular junk that enters your body along with the usable oestrogen. The last two are much safer, but usually not as strong nor long-acting. Talk to the endo about trying to get medication that has either of the last two as the active ingredient.

Yep sorted phoned today and was told I could go on any of the last two mentioned and they were really nice about it and they said they understood my concerns. A concern lifted.
