I had a fantastic day. I'm now living in girl mode basically most of the time, only putting on the boy costume when I have to go into work physically. When I started doing this, I stopped going to a certain place to eat because they knew me as a regular there, and I knew it would be an awkward conversation.
Today I decided I'm going there - that I didn't start transitioning to keep hiding from the world. I ran some errands, and then went there. Before I went in, I checked out my face in the mirror - and wasn't super happy about what I saw, but decided to go in anyway - they were going to figure out I was trans at some point anyhow.
So I go in, and instead of them starting to make my regular order, I'm greeted with, "Hello, ma'am! What would you like us to make for you?" They probably figured it out once I started talking, but it was such a wonderful feeling to be properly gendered, even with myself not feeling like I looked my best today.
I know it is a really good day if I can look at myself in the mirror at the end of the day and not want to cry. Today, Tori saw a really huge smile looking back at her in that mirror!
