Starting laser and then switching to IPL?

Has this worked for anyone? I've had 3 sessions of laser so far and the results are great but it's very expensive, the wait time between sessions is long and it hurts a lot! If I switched to IPL, which is cheaper, less painful and less wait time between sessions, would that work to remove all my facial hair? I know IPL isn't as strong or effective but I'm thinking maybe it works since the hair is weaker now thanks to laser?

IPL is not as effective at heating and thus killing the stem cells at the base of the hair follicle.  While the IPL does damage follicles to the point that the hair is shed, eventually the follicles will re-enter their active phase and develop a new hair.  Initially that hair is quite fine and colorless, but after several weeks it thickens and may develop color again.

I'm not a candidate for laser due to hair color (gray), and use thermolysis.  It's slow but very effective.

You are likely to find that IPL is not a permanent solution.  You laser treatments have likely killed off many of the hair follicles that were in an active growth phase.  There are, unfortunately, many more that will wake up over the next few years.

Since you already had 3 laser sessions, I recommend you continue with at least 3 more and then switch to electrolysis. At this point going to IPL is just not going to do very much for you.

Are you on a Testosterone blocker? If not, then go to your doctor as soon as possible and get a prescription for one strong T blocker. This will do much more than IPL.

IPL is intense pulsed light I believe. I agree with switching to electrolysis when you can. That's what I'm doing after laser. It is more expensive but would you rather spend more money now and get rid of hair forevever or repeatedly go back for IPL or laser sessions the rest of your life?
