Hey Ladies,

Have you heard about MiraDry/Smooth yet? Google will answer most details for you but essentially it is superior to electrolysis in terms of permanent hair removal and currently it's only available for your armpits. Does anybody know if this will ever be available for the genital area? If possible I would totally choose this over electrolysis if it ever became FDA approved for the genital area, I'd rather pay out a large sum of cash for 1-2 sessions that would permanently clear it than for dozens upon dozens of painful unpredictable electrolysis. I am just finding myself more and more discouraged over the long process of electrolysis as a prerequisite to SRS, I already had 50+ hours of electrolysis on my face with little success so I feel it will be the same for my downstairs.

Thanks in advance!

Stella:

This is more a question of curiosity.

You wrote of electrolysis as a prerequisite to surgery.

Transition programs 40 years ago required electrolysis before surgery.  People I know nowadays are doing surgery without completing electro.

Who / Where are you going that demands completing electro?

Dr. Dugi in Portland OR. That was a tangent to another question I had in mind, do I actually need full permanent hair removal before SRS? I've heard of scenarios where they just scrape off the hair follicles making pre-SRS hair removal pointless, so I wonder if hair removal is just a backup plan or something?

It depends on the surgeon, the technique, and the extent to which you want zero hair post-op.  If you're going to do electrolysis, get started well in advance.  Hormonally sensitive follicles can be very stubborn.
