Tracheal Shave scar correction

Following my tracheal shave, I ended up with a thin red (vascularized) line in the the crease of my neck. Apparently, this is not hyperpigmentation so any treatment aimed at reducing this will not be effective.

Anyone find a solution to at least reduce its appearance?

Hi Kay... Tracheal Shave was my first surgery and the healing was less than ideal... The scar tissue contracted and became a small ball more or less... Later when I had the lower face lift... I had the scar tissue cut out and re stitched.. The final result was much better so, possibly a similar approach would work in your case?

You didn't say how long ago the surgery was. If it wasn't long ago, the mark should fade with time as it may just be granulation. If it was a year or more, it should still fade but it's going to take a long time. After GCS I had something we called the Biber belly button which was pinkish in color. It took years but if finally faded and is no longer detectable. You might check with a dermatologist as there are new ways to treat scars and skin marks.

I am using a silicone scar patch. I had my trachea shave 12/11/2017. I have a little scar on the right side of the incision. The left healed. The silicone patch caused a layer of granulated tissue to fluff off. I stopped for a week and have a patch back on.

I had a trachea shave a few months ago and I had a little lump of hard tissue under the incision site for about 6 weeks. It finally went away.

Silicone based scar cremes are slightly effective, but they do help. Time is the best healer. After several months, if there is still no improvement, I suggest seeing a dermatologist who is experienced in using laser to minimize scars.

I have an ugly red line where they stitched me up (not from trach though).. that was like 25 years ago and its never gone away.  Done laser treatment, and fat injection non effective.   Next I'm gonna try cutting & restitching.
