Height is always dependent on who you're living near. For example my cousins grew up in a region of Oregon where even though they were 6'9" and 6'11" they didn't stand out. But around here I'm usually 3-4" taller than most guys let alone women. So any reduction is welcome. Though I think time will take care of that, my grandmother lost over a foot in her life and both my parents are shorter now than in the past.  So I'm not surprised to have lost height merely with age. Hopefully hrt will shave another couple inches off too.

Sorry you are right I should look more into clinical trials to see if there is anything that can actually apply to us trans women. I don't really think I can find anything on dutas vs fina for trans, but if I ever come up on one I'll be sure to read it and see if there is any actual benefit for us :(. I just basically shared what I found on wikipedia.

That is a really bold admission.  Kudos...sincerely. :)

Unfortunately, there aren't that many clinical trials pertinent to our situation yet.  I take no issue with people trying to educate themselves online.  I do it too, although because of my medical background I am very reluctant to take too much for granted, especially from crowd-sourced knowledge.  YMMV.  I am actually going to a medical conference in October on care of the transgender patient, and I hope to come back a bit more grounded in the science underlying the art.

Nevertheless, I think there is far more art than craft at this point.  I know this because I know how to read the professional literature.  I know this because good clinicians admit this, and I am lucky enough to be under the care of good clinicians.  Last but not least, I know this because I have been invited to be on faculty for the aforementioned conference.  After all, if I'm speaking there, we must be mostly in the business of sharing opinions.

You may have noticed that I tend to challenge those here who offer advice based on the last google search.  If you ever catch me doing the same, call me out.  I like to think that we are here to learn from each other's experience.  When it starts to look like we are becoming a panel of experts, all of our alarm bells should start going off.

Hi,
I have just started transitioning (not even on HRT yet).  My first phase of physical transition is to get from 320 to 225 (about 6'1" pretty stocky build).  I would like to start HRT at 225 (which would be about 15% body fat) and continue to lose muscle and fat until I am in the 180 range.  So far I am down about 40 pounds on a ketogenic diet eating between 1000-1800 calories a day and exercising an hour every day on an elliptical.  I have been losing about a pound a day but I know that that isn't sustainable as my weight goes down.  I know that fat can be beautiful, but I want to not be fat and beautiful.  Its healthier too.

        Good luck!
                     -Julie

At 284 now, 44 to go until first goal met. That's 98 since June, 113 since December 2016. I've practically lost a human being.

Awesome Gertrude!  I can see changes in my body every week and I bet you can too!  I have never been so committed to the changes in my diet or exercise and I know that once  you find the motivation within yourself, nothing can stop you.  As a man, I never really cared about my weight, but making weight loss a part of my transition is really helping me in so many ways.

I used to lift weights, but had neck problems 7 years ago that ended up requiring fusion and the doc said no more lifting. A couple years ago my t took a dive and that was that. I'm just walking now and hiking 1-2x a week. I might start running soon. There's a kilted run on St Patrick's day coming up that I'd like to do. They are trying to set a world record for the most kilted runners.

I want to respond in greater detail but I'm just saying I get where you are at. It is similar to where I was a year ago.
Working out for 20 minutes a day with kettle bells (mind proper form to protect your back), coming out, going on HRT changed my life. I lost 37 pounds. Today a chick I work with asked me for style advice. Everyone can find their way to the person they really are and maybe faster than you think!
