Progesterone helping?

I just started 4 days ago but I feel calmer. I'm wondering if possibly it's progesterone helping?

It could be after my estradiol dosage increase my body needed to readjust. Or stressors in my life are resolving themselves (hah, right). But I really feel like starting progesterone maybe has leveled things out for me as far emotions.

What you do all think? Is that possible?

Oh and I'm laughing more. It's like a grey cloud is lifted. I hope I don't crash... I do know what that's like!

This might help...

"The results showed that when progesterone is given to young men, their testosterone levels fell. We know that progesterone is the precursor of testosterone in men. ... However, other research seems to suggest that in men over 55, progesterone supplementation can increase libido."

and.. "Another way progesterone helps reduce the risk of cancer is by suppressing the growth-promoting effects of estrogen and testosterone on cells that have outlasted their natural lifespan." Seems to be good for cancer but not transitioning.. emmmm

I take Estrodot patches.. When I started I was very happy all the time. But after my GRS, and I stopped HRT for a few months and my moods changed.. I am fine now.. I cannot find anything where it suggest Progesterone enhances any kind of euphoria but perhaps your happiness is down to an increased libido.. ;) or perhaps you are just on a happy time.... :)

Ok well I'm giving it a try. I'm of the notion that I should try it out rather than have regrets later on that I didn't.

Today has been rough. I felt like I didn't want to get out of bed at all and I was late to where I had to go... feeling a bit better now after having lunch. I did walk around a lot because I kept getting lost. Even though I "know" where I'm going.. or I'm supposed to at least

Had the same thought to give it a go.
Can stop taking it if problems but I usually tolerate meds pretty well so not expecting the issues others had.

Thought the main reason for us to take it  is to promote breast growth.

Starting on it probably tomorrow.  Pharmacy has ordered it for me but don't think I'll be able to go pick it up until tomorrow.

I'm trying to switch mine to micronized progesterone since it has less side effects.

Breast growth would be nice [emoji4] hopefully it works out for both of us!

I'm also on spiro and sublingual estradiol. Thinking about switching to injections soon

I don't know much about that kind of stuff because I haven't even started hormones and probably won't until I'm 18.
But I'm very happy that you're feeling better!

Hugs, Maria.

Allison S, are you doing all this through your Gender GP..?? If not, you really need to so your blood is checked.. That concoction you are taken will bring you up and down like a yo-yo since your hormones will be going nuts...

As for oestrogen injections, if that is what you are going to do, you really do need to see you Gender GP since that options puts more stress and issues on your heart. I am going with the safer but slower option using patches.. I could use a cream but the is messy and needs applying everyday..

Anyway.. Be careful..

Yes I get all my medications from an endocronologist and get regular blood work done. Definitely not good to self medicate...

There is no evidence, as far as I know, that this is the case with estradiol valerate or cypionate injections.

I didn't like progesterone because my fingers swell, my whole body in fact swells up, I look like a balloon, bigger breasts though. Also, I get tired and lazy.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004

Did it develop your breasts more? And if so was it permanent or temporary?

Most was temporary but there is an area in my left breast, to the left, going outwards where it stayed. :)

On progesterone (bio-identical) as we speak.  My boobs have grown a full size+ more than they were before... my skin is far softer, more collagen / fat in cheeks & body.. I look much younger, and my sex drive is high.  My T* count is nonexistent, and E in the high 200's.  I'm pretty sure that at least in my unique body its made a big difference.  Ironically my progesterone count was always in normal limits, but I'm glad I asked to start on it anyways :)

I started adding Progesterone to my daily regime after 4 to 6 months (?) and I defiantly got libido back. :)

Not sure if it helps in anything else, but my understanding is it might "shape" the breast also.

I've just finished my first round of Progesterone.  So I cannot really say whether or not it helped.  I'd like to think it did.  I have noticed more soreness and sensitivity and the general achy feeling in my breasts the last week or so.

I should also point out that in my own thread I mentioned that I just truly recognized the fact that I have real (albiet very small) breasts now, but hat post was right after I started on my progesterone.
