Since going full-time, I've had several patrons at work ask either me or one of my co-workers if I (Sarah) was <deadname's> sister.  :D  These are people who only know me from work, and aren't in all that often. Most of the regular patrons knew I was (technically) the same person.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I had folks thinking me & my sister were twins (female twins) when I was younger... mostly because we were seen together alot.

I've been mistaken for one of my cousins from time to time, but I understand because we are somewhat similar looking and have several other traits in common

I had a customer ask me if my brother also worked here on a day I couldn't bind due to a terrible chest cold.

Thanks for the responses! So I'm not the only one!
When I was little, my sister (1-1/2 years older than me) and I looked a lot alike until our teens (well, except for hair - parents wouldn't let me grow it out). Looking back now I can see that watching her become so pretty while I went the other way was seriously dysphoria-inducing. Anyways, I wonder if I actually do look more like her now (I haven't seen her in over 20 years, though I'm planning on trying to contacting her soon).

LOL, some people have a hard time believing Tyler is my brother. After I transitioned people sometimes thought we were a couple rather than brother and sister. This one older lady told us we were a beautiful couple. I told her thank you but that Tyler was my brother. She got quiet for a second then asked how we could be siblings when Tyler was " normal". LOL. And before I transitioned a couple of Tyler's friends used to swear I was adopted. Tyler would tell them no I wasn't adopted, yes he was sure. One of his friends would say we couldn't be siblings because I am albino and Tyler is twice my size. My albinism seems to confuse people. They don't understand how Tyler can be normal. He had the same 50/50 chance of being albino that I did. He just got lucky. As for him being so much bigger than me all I can think of is that he was a piggish fetus and hogged all the growth hormones before he was born.

One of my sisters would tell people I was adopted and refer to me as her "Retarded little brother"  :'(  I think I don't want to talk about siblings anymore

My mom used to tell me if she hadn't seen me as soon as I was born she would swear the hospital switched babies on her.

Something similar happened to me even pre-T and before my name and gender marker had been legally changed.
When I went to the dentist after quite some time the assistant thought that I was my brother and mistook me for him and was under the believe that I was there in company of 'wrong name wrong gender' and that lady absolutely didn't get it when I told her that it actually was my appointment and that I only still had the wrong name on my card. And when she was calling me by my last name she still thought I was my brother and was asking me where my sibling was now or whether we swapped appointments yet another time.

OMG, lol. I have a sister, and I once went to my hometown to visit but told nobody!! I was in a bar downtown in Sacramento, I had a guy approach and ask if I was related to........ (my sisters name)!! I was like ummm no, lol. He said wow you look so much like her. So I tried to avoid him, but after a few drinks and dancing, I ended up blowing him in the parking lot. lol.

My sister sends a group text to us all the next day saying... my friend said he ran into a girl that looked like my twin, lol. She actually asked if we had a sister!!!!
Love you all,

REBECCA

Okay, so this is not quite the same, but apparently I just have one of those faces. People ask me all the time if I'm related to so-and-so (never the same person twice), or tells me I look just like their cousin/friend/sibling/whatever. In fact I get "I know someone who looks just like you" so often that I simply respond with "yes, I know". That response always makes people very confused, it's very amusing to watch people realize they are not being original.

V M,

That was very inconsiderate of her.  So wrong.  Think happy things now.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Until I was about 6 years old Tyler had me convinced I had been born with a tail and they removed it when I was born. He told me not to mention it to my dad because it made him sad. Lol. When my dad finally found out about it he was really unhappy with Tyler. Even as a small child he loved to mess with me.

And I though my brother and sister gave me a hard time when I was growing up with all the fights they started. My brother and sister were rank amateurs compared to your brother.

Yeah it's a miracle I'm not locked in an institution with a terminal nervous condition with all the practical jokes he's played on me and all the times he's scared me half to death. He's known for hiding around corners and scaring the crap out of me. He's even hidden in closets he knew I would be opening and jumped out at me. And I've learned to go all the way into a room and vacuum my way out so I can see the entrance. One of his favorite things to do is sneak up behind me while I'm vacuuming and grab my sides and scream. If my hair wasn't naturally white it would have turned white by now.

One time my younger brother spray painted my name on the side of our house to try to get me in trouble. The hilarious part is that he misspelled my name. My extremely common male name... (John, which he spelled Jhon.) So my parents were like "We're pretty sure "he" knows how to spell "his" name... probably not guilty." Though it would have been brilliant if I had done that to get him in trouble and spelled my name wrong on purpose (but I didn't).

That's hilarious! A few times growing up I tried to take the blame for something Tyler had done because my dad didn't seem to get as mad at me as he did at Tyler. But it never worked because my dad always knew the stuff he did was stuff I would never do. My dad didn't want us messing with the fireplace when we were home alone. Once when Tyler was 12 he decided he was old enough to start a fire so he tried but he couldn't get a very good fire going so he got the idea of throwing charcoal lighter fluid on it. Of course that made the fire too big so he slammed the fire place doors shut. The fire was too hot and he was afraid it would break the doors so he decided to throw some water on the doors to cool them off.  Not just water but icewater from the refrigerator.  They shattered of course. He moved a bunch of houseplants in front of the fireplace trying to hide it. He was SCARED! He even started crying so I told him I would say I did it. My dad noticed the smell immediately and looked at the fireplace. I tried telling him I did it but he didn't buy it for a second.  Poor Tyler got grounded for a month with no TV, video games or computer And I got grounded for a week for trying to lie and say I did it. My dad could be kind of mean when he got really mad.😞

Wow. I really don't have any memories like that. My family was so dysfunctional... My sister and I got along fairly well, and I distinctly remember her boyfriend in highschool sticking up for me when I was being bullied. She was pretty cool, as sisters go. I don't really remember us picking on each other all that much.

Nobody who knows my sister would ever mistake me for her.  I'm 5'7" and she is a quarter inch under six feet tall.  Yes, you read it right.  My sister is almost five inches taller than I am.
