I would sooner confront a boa constrictor with a suit of armore.

i've always thought the little baby alien is kinda cute, the way it slides along the floor
The one in Space Balls was cuter, it could even dance and sing.   :icon_eyebrow:

it's really not good to generalize like this.  i guess some people may be "mildly tempered,"  but i certainly would never choose those words to describe myself.  on the other hand, there are a multitude of situations where i might behave in a mild tempered manner.  putting people in boxes like this is something that we should be moving away from.

people belong in boxes, it's the beginning of understanding. As long as it is only the beginning then it is an essential part of the intellectual process.

Ah, you're just in an argumentive mood lately.

Yes, but I've always got pissed off at the 'don't put me in boxes' thing. It's one of the best ways of quickly, and for the most part, accurately sorting and assessing and integrating information. A person who is not in a box is not really a person, they are just a thing, a thing with no touching or connection to anything else. Who would yearn to be that? Put me in boxes I say, just make sure they are the right boxes and that you are flexible enough to change those boxes when i no longer fit.

There are days when I wouldn't mind being put in a box, but of the pine variety.  :o

I hear what you are saying about the box thing. Putting things in boxes is how we deal with things, yes. But it is important to be able to shift around to other boxes, or maybe even half one foot in this box and another foot in that box.

(and back to the alien thing, ooh, well had I known you were talking about the alien! I mean, everyone was just saying "ew" and "I wouldn't kiss that thing" and something about an alien. But now that I know you are talking about THE alien... heck, I could probably quote 3/4ths of those movies! I have the nice collector's edition dvd set. My favorite is resurrection. Ripley is hawt, even if she is old enough to be my grandma)

A person after my own heart, I love those movies.
Aliens is my favorite, but Res. is a close second.

Totally agree about Ripley, too.  ;D
(Though she's not old enough to be my grandmother)

But, how could you not know what it was?  :P

You all like Resurrection?  My friends and I laughed all the way through it.  I like the first one best.

Hmmm...I'm not good with labels, so I have trouble committing to a box.  Perhaps I just have commitment issues.  ;)

Pica in a box?  I'll take three, please.  (??? I'm so weird  :icon_geekdance:)

Actually, I liked all of them a lot except 3, but seeing it again, years later I admit it was better than I remembered. I think it just let me down in terms of an Alien movie, I expected more.

I loved the first one, I feel bad that I don't prefer it more because it is a masterpiece of film making.

Edit:  Sorry Nero, looks like we did it again. :icon_flower:

"Urrrrrrrrrk!" I couldn't stand the blood and guts but I just shut my eyes then looked after the gory stuff was done.  They were interesting movies and so was their concept, the origin of the aliens, the huge alien ship more than half covered in sand.

I have seen only one other movie, which, by the way, was a really far out movie, not as much blood and guts., The name of that movie was, "Rama." There were actually clouds inside that ship, and lakes and forests everywhere on the outside of it, which was actually inside the drum-shaped ship.

I love sci-fi movies and I love astrophysics and astronomy, especially the study of Mars. I have very large collection of stuff about Mars.

We seem to have steered the thread off course.

Not that it ever happens. ::)

Ive never been able to fit into anyone's boxes or labels, except where I had to jump through other peoples hoops in order to accomplish transitioning. I just don't like the thought of being analyzed like some specimen in a laboratory. I have been living most of my life on my own, I only tried once before to open my kimono for anther, and I was outright rejected. I think it is much easier to get along with people if they don't know anything about me that doesn't concern them. But I do care and have much compassion for another, I do my best to be there for them, even if all I can do is just give my shoulder for them to lean on. I am by nature a mild natured person who has the ability to get along with almost anybody. You will never see me put anyone down in any of my posts in here, nor will I get into any aggressive arguments with anyone, unless I think I may be able to solve the disagreement  and I enjoy sharing with others here.

I don't know about stereotypes, but I think the initial premise of us being mild mannered, I mean mild tempered, was probably based on the attitudes of most of us here at this site.   We tend to defer to each other's great wisdom and to not really argue or anything.   I don't think there are a lot of examples of androgyne histrionics here either.

Could be a coincidence, an accident, a simple twist of fate that it's been like this.

Exactly, Reebs. And there is a drastic contrast in tone between the Androgynee and Transsexual boards.
