I pass better and look more attractive in boy clothes than in girl clothes.
When I'm dressed in boyfriend sweaters and in a skinny jeans I look like a badass girl and people think I'm cute, call " me super feminine but in a special way " ,...

The soft butch look seams to make me look more feminine to others than the girly girl look.

If I wear lipstick, dresses and what not people seam to notice my give aways more easily than if I dress andro.

Could it be that the boy clothes form a contrast with my feminine appearence and therefore lite my feminine appearence up in one or another way?

I am labeled conventionally attractive in boy clothes and seen as a soft butch lesbian and called feminine,... more easily in male clothing than in female clothing.

Strange huh?

makes sense. all femmed up draws attention to that which is not, makes it stand out == fail
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

I'm a law student and when I wear that manly looking toga it draws attention to the femininity of my face. I look instantly more elegant, refined, delicate and feminine when wearing androgynous clothing. I love it.
Especially now that it's winter, my rosy cheeks draw attention to my feminine high cheekbones.

I love admiring myself finally :-D

Boy clothes hide more. & they're more natural lookin like what most girls wear maybe (idrk)  so it stands out less. Or maybe the sweaters hide certain "give away" features. Like my ginormous hands lol. Sweater would hide an Adam's apple easier too, that kinda stuff.
I envy u tho. I dont pass as well unless i show a lot of skin... shorts, small t-shirts, tanktops.  The more skin i show, the less problems i have. But i also work out daily, so this body actually shuts ppl up, lol, no matter How ginormous my hands are.
But im sure my giant head/forehead doesnt help to keep people from clocking me, lol.
Just like a cis girl, u Gotta work with what worx best for you. Certain clothes & looks will be better you than others would. I just recently got into leggings, i might never wear denim again, lol. They're Much more flattering, much lower chance of being clocked.

@ Allie Bee :

But I don't have an Adams Apple and I have a very feminine body :-/
My voice and hands are also in female range so that couldn't be it either.

Could it be that some clothes just work better with someone's personality?

What is your definition of girly girl clothes?

I meant all that as an example, i think the personality thing def plays a part. Like you ever notice how a cis girl will look cuter sometimes in more casual "boyish" clothes? Its just different body types, faces & personalities that work well with different looks i guess. Idk im not much of a stylist, i just try to accentuate the parts the help me pass. For you, your face & voice & small stature might be enough. Sometimes more clothes is hotter/more fem, leaves more to the imagination.

Short shorts are girly girl clothes in my opinion...these days anyway. Its just based on what you normally see outside, you know, stereotypes, not sayin its ok. Anyone Should wear whatever they want. But humans love to label things. Lol

I am older and somewhat old school, so take whatever I say with that in mind. From my observation, some trans women don't dress appropriate for their age and dress in a way that draws attention. To put it in practical terms, do you think you'd have the same problem if you went to work or a function in a skirt suit or sheath with blazer? Or wearing a midi skirt with a twin set? Sounds frumpy to some, but I'd bet you wouldn't get the unwanted results. Again, I am old school OG. I don't find skinny jeans or any other particularly sexy, shorts either, from being a male or from the trans woman perspective. Never have. That said, people can wear what they want, but we swim through the local culture we live in and can't control people's beliefs about anything and their reactions to us. SO, we either get thick skins or adapt to some acceptable local standard, which is up to the individual. OR of course, move to somewhere that is more open to a broader range of sartorial expression.

I find if I wear mens clothes (which I hate anyway) I get more negative attention than if I just wear Women's clothes. I have some more andro stuff, but all I end up doing is giving myself anxiety. My days of Men's clothes are over I suspect. The only reason I wear them now is to keep my wife happy in the weekend...
Every day is a totally awesome day
Every day provides opportunities and challenges
Every challenge leads to an opportunity
Every fear faced leads to one more strength
Every strength leads to greater success
Success leads to self esteem
Self Esteem leads to happiness.
Cherish every day.

I am in my last weeks of being male at court (work) and I find that the only time I can pass for male any more is in a men's suit and tie.  Any kind of casual wear I get gendered female.  That said, to me in the mirror, I look like a girl in a suit and tie, seemingly more fem than usual even with my hair pony tailed and no make up.

OTOH, In skin tight femme clothes, even fully made up, I think I still have a few male tells.  So I think the clothes do heighten your features by contrasting with them.  Just one of those quirks of human perception, I guess.
