Hey girls,

Since I have heard all of nothing from Dr Kamol's clinic, I am looking into other places that offer the laparoscopic colonvaginoplasty. I have heard good things about VUMC and Dr Bouman, but I can't find any information that isn't dutch, no email address etc, and I am beginning to wonder if I am even able to go there as an international patient? I have a EU passport, but I am not Dutch. Is this only for Dutch people and part of Dutch national healthcare?

Transfused

Dr Monstrey in Belgium is a wordclass surgeon for both MtF and FtM. Ghent has been a pioneer institute in the 80s and 90s to provide trans surgery.

Monstrey offers
Orchidectomy
Vaginoplasty
Metaidioplasty
Phalloplasty

He accepts patients from overseas. Although our own citizens ( BE here ) get priority.

VUMC has long waiting lists and the girls in the Netherlands actually want to go to Germany and Thailand for their SRS. Bouman and Buncamper are considered bad doctors by the local girls.

Many have good things to say about dr Kanhai who works in Alkmaar, the Netherlands.
Dr Ozer also is said to be a great surgeon. She works at VUMC.

VUMC requires hair removal on the perineum and your T needs to be very low for at least a year before they approve of SRS. They used to have the requirement of undetectable T but they stepped back from that.

Hormone protocols are also different here in BE and in NL.
We get prescribed Androcur as an anti-androgen and we get prescribed a maximum amount of Progynova for everyone. Our dose is what is considered a starter's dose in the USA.

Requirement of stopping 4 weeks before SRS is also applicable.

Healthcare pays for SRS here in BE and NL.

VUMC charges around 10000€ or 13000$ to health insurance for a standard inversion vaginoplasty.

You need to count on around 15000€ for the colon version or 18000$.

If you go to UZ Ghent you need to count on 10%-15% more.

The ones who live here and have health insurance ( which everyone has here ! )
need to wait around a year from intake conversation to SRS.

Foreigners need to wait longer.

Oh and I forgot to mention :
there is also Marijke De Cat here in Belgium, Brussels.
She performs MtF surgeries under which vaginoplasty.
Waiting lists are shorter than with other doctors and she rents an operating theatre. You can book her as your surgeon, then she rents an operating theatre in which your SRS will happen.
She is an average surgeon. Not the best but not bad either. You also need hair removal on the perineum with her.
Prices are roughly same as Monstrey but waiting lists are shorter.
With Marijke De Cat, count on 1 year waiting list.

Good luck!

Hey Isabella,

Not sure if the VUMC is taking international patients, but I think that can be going to be hard as they do not follow the WPATH guidelines. If you're not in a hurry I can ask for the possibilities half April when I have my SRS consultation with Dr. Ozer at the VUMC.

Reaching them is difficult, even as a patient, they have no mail address and calling them will give you the option to leave your phone number. Most of the time they call back within 2-3 business days. Contact information in English is available here:https://www.vumc.com/branch/gender-dysphoria/contact-information/

As the Dr. Kanhai that Transfused mentioned. He is generally the most preferred surgeon in the Netherlands, but at the moment he doesn't perform surgery as he doesn't have any OR available. He also doesn't perform the colon vaginoplasty.
