It's amazing that the groups that would likely claim discrimination in things that go against them feel they're free to discriminate against others.  There should never be any consideration for religious belief in law.  If they want to believe whatever, fine, but they have absolutely no right to impose those beliefs on others nor expect protection from discrimination, when they're so quick to discriminate against others.

I agree with the religious organizations as far as governmental oversight of clergy selection and liturgical ceremonies.  Those really are the core of the religion and in the USA at least there is a strong argument that legislating those things would violate the first amendment. The problem is that they want to take it much further and be free to discriminate against whomever they wish whenever they wish and wherever they wish.  That is unacceptable in any society except a theocracy and no matter how much they would like us to be one, our constitution establishes us as a secular society for everyone regardless of private beliefs.

Thanks for posting this story. This is just down the road from me and I wasn't aware of it. My brother in law is actually a frequent guest at the radio station involved. I guess you know where he stands on this.

I have been wrestling with these types of things somewhat lately and trying to get my views down on paper for me personally. I can see this from  number of angles. I don't believe this falls into the "church" spreading a message as much as the government entering the church and directing them. If the concepts could be separate then while I think their views are misguided, they should be able to operate internally how they see fit.

Why would a trans person try to enter that realm for employment anyway? I know that the church I have attended for the past 4 years would not accept trans as a reality so I am moving to one that does. For some people, it's just beyond their ability to accept at present. I love them but I certainly can't sit in the pew with them each week so I am moving on.

In Ontario, we have a taxpayer funded Catholic school system.  You can't work there, unless you're Catholic.  That's taxpayers money being used to fund discrimination!  Just yesterday, in the news, there was an article about how one Catholic school board has banned students from fund raising for any organization that directly or indirectly violates "Catholic values".  Apparently, that includes groups such as the Cancer Society, because some cancer research involves stem cells. Apparently discrimination is only allowed to work in one direction.
