So, people warned me that my sex drive was going to go through the roof when I started T.  The idea was built up so much in my mind that I actually felt a bit of a letdown when I felt nothing unusual for the first couple of months.  Then.  Starting about a week ago and getting more intense by the day, I have this libido from hell.  My mind is focused on sex about half of the time, and during the half of the day when I manage to do things like eat, shower, do laundry, etc. there remains this constant pressure in the back of my mind, like a really bad itch that I can't quite ignore.  It might be worth noting that my sex drive was almost non-existent when I started T, so this is just a little bit different.  I find it annoying and disturbing.

Does this happen to other people?  Could I be on too high a dose of T, or is this within the realm of normal?  And does a person's libido stay like this?  If it does, I may never get anything done again.

it's basically like you're going through puberty (again), so your body is gonna be changing and adjusting for a while.  it's also a mixed bag; there are things that are common enough to be expected by most, but everyone's experience is unique and not all will end up with the same results.  but generally speaking, this sounds normal and will probably calm down a bit over time--just like with a teenage boy going through the same phase.

Settles down a bit after a while, the first few months was crazy.

By all accounts I seem to have a normal male sex drive at this point, need to "attend" to it about averagely. Yeah, it's a step up from having a near dead sex drive for sure, but you get used to it.

Haha, god I'm waiting for that sex drive increase... xDDD!
Was fun reading that, Lemur :D!
My sex drive for now is nothing but non-existent... xDDD...!
But seems to have phases... Some days I think about sex a lot xD! And have to 'attend to it' regularly yeah... xD! But other times I can go days or even a week without it just fine. And ofc if I have a lot of stuff to do and think about (other stuff besides sex), then I might just 'forget' about it!

Very curious what it'll be like on T... xD! I'm waiting for that 'can't concentrate on anything besides sex' thing xD!!!!!

Flying Lemur - enjoy it as long as it lasts  ;D!!!

This is where life begins for me. It's a miracle I finally got it done.

I already had an extremely high sex drive before I started T. Every (male) partner I've had actually complained about me wanting it so often, which is pretty rare with AFAB people afaik. So in that sense there wasn't a lot of room for growth (innuendo unintended.) My drive increased, but it wasn't the 0 to 60 acceleration I experienced during my first puberty. It was more like...thinking about sex every five waking minutes as opposed to every ten waking minutes. Annoying but not that functionally different.

I can't say this will happen to you, but the first phase of T it is like an intrusive mental itch. First week or so I kept wondering why I was constantly thinking about it because I was tying to write a bloody essay and get a bunch of orders done for work as well and it was driving me nuts. For a few days I just had to let that thing run its course.

After about 3 months all that was gone. I guess I'm close to 1 yr 6 months T and the pattern has settled into something like a cis male's routine with it. That is, it's not going to occur to you much while you're busy doing important stuff, it's not going to waving itself around in your head while you're occupied, but if you end up by yourself/relaxed at a certain time of day or night then it'll probably occur to you as more of a 'frame of mind' brought on by that quiet time. Most cis guys have this kind of thing going on.

My sex drive was through the roof from the time I hit puberty until I got on E at 34. It was a constant distraction. I kinda miss having a sex drive, but if my only option was the intensity I previously had, I'll pass.

Exact thing happened with me, I went from being able to abstain from jacking off pre-T to needing to maybe 3 times a day for the first 8 or so months. I'm now 11 months and it has calmed down a bit, I'd say I'm down to every other day but definitely nowhere near as bad as when I first started.

Thanks for all your replies, guys.  It's good to know that this is within the scope of normal, and I'm not poisoned on too much T or anything.  :p
