Are there any railroaders here?

I work for the railroad and know coworkers are not too accepting of those who would be in transition.  I was wondering if there are fellow railroaders here who have taken the transition journey, in the process of the journey or considering the journey and how they managed.  I know there is one individual who is in transition that takes trains to the Chicago area but only by heresy.  Would be nice to see how other fellow coworkers transitioned in this line of work.

Hi, Shdwrunner,
I first want to apologize if my response to one of your earlier posts seemed critical.

I am not a railroad employee, but my best, lifelong male friend is. I just came out to my wife and my best friend doesn't know yet. I am certain he will still accept me as his friend, but I do expect it will take some time to adjust to thinking of me as female.

I would have some reservations walking into his work crew if they knew I was trans. Railroaders tend to be either ardently macho in male gender ideals, or the occasional strong butch type woman. If there are any butch type women among the crew and they are well accepted, you stand a better chance of acceptance.

I wish you well in your journey. It is a truly life changing experience, and sometimes a career change might be needed to stay safe and sane. Don't think changing careers is off limits if it will help you.

It's all good Bluejaye.  I respect all responses whatever they may be.  I am very open minded and nonjudgmental.
