Hello everyone!

Yesterday, my stepmother got home and called me Maria instead of my deadname. This spawned a feeling of shock and confusion inside of me. It turns out it's because she saw it on an envelope from GLSEN. This whole thing has lifted some weight off of me, but I still have to explain it more to my parents. This has been interesting.

@ Maria:  Well, this is actually very good news regarding your stepmother ... and certainly everyone she talks to now will be aware of "Maria"  ... that has saved you a future and a possibly uncomfortable and nervous conversation with her.

Now, talking to your parents, if they already have heard it from your stepmother is not going to be a shock to them.

Again... this is actually very good news for you.

I'm planning on telling my mother soon. She lives away from me, so it would be hard for her to find out if I didn't. She's also very accepting. I'm not sure how I got so lucky.
