Okay! (sorry if this is written weirdly, I'm very awkward talking about this still, even after so long) So, I'm trying to see if I can try out different looks, growing out hair, and when I'm alone at home, wearing female clothes and stuff (bra, makeup, other shirts etc...). But here's the thing I don't have the most feminine physique, when I try, say the bra and then like my other shirts, makeup and jeans then I really like it, and I feel just so happy. But, then when I try on like a skirt or stuff like that, I just see my broad shoulders and my more "masculine" features more, then feel just really sad thinking that I might never have a more feminine looking body. Does that side of it change? How much does the body change on hormones? Thanks :)

Hi, Daisy.

If you are past your early 20s, your bone structure won't change on hormones.  Before that, there is some hope that masculinization will slow down.  But you can't undo bone growth once it has occurred.

The body changes on HRT are all in soft tissue.  Fat can redistribute.  Muscles can shrink.  Skin will probably get softer.  Breast growth is probable.

But don't worry too much about it.  There are a lot of masculine-looking women around.  I started HRT at 61, and I am often not the most masculine-looking woman in a crowd.

I'm 6-5 turning 41 in May. Although I am early in transition I was coached to dress for my body type. It takes time to find out what looks good on you. I own a skirt but I haven't worn it in public. I think like many things sometimes I have to baby step it. Get to my comfort zone then cross it eventually. Well good luck I'm cheering ya on.

It is amazing what the style, color, and brand of clothing can make in your appearance.  There are styles, and colors and materials that work on me...and many that don't.  I have yet to find a skirt that really works well on me.  I've found a few styles of jean & blouse combos that work but I mostly wear dresses.

There's a lot of info on line that advises what styles or cuts work better with what shapes.

I have found that getting the figure line is most important.  HTR may soften you up a bit...but it won't change your height, weight or fundamental body structure.

Far too often I've seen girls like us wearing very blousey tops (to cover up broad chest and masculine arms) and very short, tight (but sexy) skirts.  Sometimes they add to that look a JJJcup bra and that part could be just fetish fun which is fine BUT...  The net effect is to create an upside down triangle look...Huge on top ( not even mentioning the addition of too big of hair) and narrowing to fine heels at the bottom...Draw an upside down triangle and you'll get the idea.  Nothing, in my opinion, could be worse for a feminine look but, it sure accentuates ones masculine assets.

I try to create a figure 8 line...  I try to wear reasonably tailored or tighter fitting tops..in darker, non pattern colors.
Yes, it does accentuate my arms somewhat... but I love the comments that I look as though I have Michelle Obama arms..nicely toned and a bit worked out...Almost every girls dream..no flab..  ;-)  Since having HUGE breasts is not part of my fun, it is not part of my look.  I usually go with a B or C cup depending on the line I create with the top I'm wearing...  If you're already BIG  from the waist up...Don't make it even bigger..unless that's fun...

I recommend wearing nicely draped slacks, un-cuffed with low heels or flats.  Skirts and dresses that are flared, full or at least a-line and are easily cinched at the waist with a belt or tie.  Getting your lower half appear fuller is the balance to the..shall we say, fuller top...?  Here on the bottom... brighter colors and patterns add fullness and if properly cinched at the waist tend to create a nice figure 8 appearance. Now, depending on how dressy or casual you look is you can wear the heels of your choice (providing you can walk in them without looking like the farmer in the cow field..  HaHa!).  And believe me full cut skirts and dresses can be really sexy too..     It gets quite windy around here sometimes...:-0
