How did you choose a name?  I keep going around in circles and not getting anywhere.

My birth name is Morgan.  It's a unisex name but I kind of want to establish a new identity.  Of all the names I've considered, the two I've settled on are either Meghan or Rayne.

Meghan is a good choice because it's so much like Morgan that it will be an easy adjustment, plus it's a name I've always liked.  The downside is that it's very common and plain.  Rayne is really pretty and unique and strong, but it's so different from Morgan in sound and spelling that I'm concerned it will be difficult to adjust.

Any advice?

I like Meghan as a name. Simple
Don't like big scary complicated name.

I picked Rachel cause it was my great grannys name and the name my mum would have gave me had I been born a girl.
Christina is not part of the name anyone would call me by. I just kept the name Chris as part of my name as it was the name my dad gave me :'3

YES, I agree with @Rachel_Christina about keeping it simple...  Meghan is a particularly good choice for you especially since your male name is Morgan.
Another name, but not as common but with a similar spelling is Mora ...

If you signed your name quickly no one would know the difference between any of those names.

Both female names are beautiful names.

I love Meghan, it's such a pretty name! And Meg is cute as well!  ;D

On the other hand, Rayne is certainly unique (I can't think of ever knowing anyone with that name) if that's what's important to you.  ;)

As for how I picked my own name: one of the ways I expressed my feminine side was through playing female characters in tabletop RPGs (D&D and the like). In one longish-running game I played online through voice chat we took to referring to everyone as their character's names, because it was easier than trying pronounce screen names. Needless to say, my character's name in that game was Sarah and I found that I really liked being called that... it just felt right. When I finally admitted that I was transgender, I knew that had to be my name.

I'd vote for Meghan.  It is similar to your old name, which will make it easier for people to adjust.  It might be easy to adapt your signature, too.

My birth name was Keith.  I chose Kathy (Kathleen) because of the similarity.  I sign documents as "Kathy", so my signature felt totally natural the first time I tried it.  I have heard people start to dead-name me and then switch to the right name, and I was probably the only person who noticed.  I have heard Ke-yathy and Ke-Kathy.  Works for me.

Kathy is a common name, or was in my generation.  I like that it is age-appropriate.  But I also like that it feels simple - common if you like.  I couldn't see me as an Amanda or Monique.  I'm a down-to-earth girl, and Kathy is a down-to-earth name.

I chose my middle name on the same basis: Lawrence -> Lauren.  I had less concerns about ease of use or signing, since I seldom use it.  And Lauren Bacall was a popular movie actress about the time I was born, so it is very plausible as an age-appropriate name.

Devlyn

A friend named me. In any event, the last thing I wanted was a name similar to my old one. I changed first, middle, and last names, none of the initials are the same.

As far as age appropriate, the only time I need that is when someone says "The Olde Broade is dead."

Hugs, Devlyn
