I prefer to believe that you use the salt trick.   That's what I'm going to do when I have to look for work.

   I have no ambition.

I do 3 terrible things.

1) I have no experience (except weird ones with theatres and portrait photography and filmmaking and stuff)
2) I think for myself.
3) I am very ambitious (but relating to number 2, those ambitions are my own ambitions for my own self).

1+2+3=pretty unemployable.

Sounds like you need to start your own thing on the side.

Me too!  I have no experience but I can't get experience because no one will hire me because I have no experience.  It's stupid.  My job is okay, but I couldn't make a career out of it.  Starting next week, I'll probably be working about 52 hours a week because I need the money, so I'm working overtime.  Bleah.  There are no windows in the building I work in.  We just sit in our "pods" which are like cubicles, except more lame.

*sigh*

I do feel better though. You were right about those feelings coming and going, Reb.  I got to relieve some stress yesterday when some friends came over.  Laughing is good.

I hope you all start to feel better soon too!  (I think my cough came back...I wish it would get warm!!!)

You could list your activities over here as work experience. Of course, finding the job where that experience was relevant might be tricky...  ;)

(Yay, 500th post!)

Feel free to use any of us as references too.... depending on the type of job, that also might not work to your best advantage though.  ;)

Hmmmmm, wondering how to get paid for time spent here... I know, thread monitor, to make sure things stay on topic... oh never mind, that would take more than one person, full time 24/7...  :D

Well, that's because I'm so careful about what I write. You know, trying to cultivate an image as a mature, um, what'd be the right non-gendered term batriarch. Yes, that's right there between the binary-gendered ones. So there.  >:D

...don't do it!  Unless you like being in hell.  Masochist.  ;)

I'm a temp.  I spend 9.5 hours a day staring at my computer and/or the pinkish beige wall behind it...the money isn't horrible (in the states at least).  It's not great, but it could be worse.  It could be retail.

That doesn't sound like much fun.... I once had a job bartending for a few months...

don't you get tips? here, the barmaids get great tips and a percentage when a patron buys them drinks.
barmaids make good money where i'm from.

the company has a 'no tipping' thing

uwah?  really?  i've never heard of 'no tipping' in a bar!  you should mutiny!

no tipping?!? not a part of your culture? my god, you English are so backward. you'd be making a killing in the States. in my city, barmaids make $10 per hour plus tips every drink. plus if they get the patrons to buy drinks for them they get a percentage of the drink price.

you poor thing. you're not getting a fraction of what your job's worth.
