Hello all-
Actually a returning former memeber of Susan's. When i was on here last i was KC1058. I had to leave, delete my account and whatnot in order to focus on the bigger picture for a while-

So as to bring everyone up to speed-
Im 46, mtf , and been on hrt about 5 months. I'm married with 5 kids(all grown).
Without question the ladt 5 months have been among the most trying in recent memory. Ive brought a lot of stress on my wife, kids and other family.
Im in LE and am a Chief in the Navy Reserve (E7 for you non Navy types). Im out to my leadership at work and a few select individuals with the Navy- those who need to know.
In any case- ive deployed to Afghanistean and other not so nice places, put my life in danger all in the attempt to try and re-affirm, prove to myself and others who they thought i was amd who society said i should be-
Last year i just couldnt take it anymore- and it all came spillng forward- at the most inopportune time ( is there ever an opportune time?)
So here i am almost 6 months later, my marriage not quite the wreck it seemed to be in- hope looms eternal, my kids still struggling to understand and get used to this non- angry mellowed out person in front of them, and more and more people being brought into my circle.
Im happy to be back and hope to reconnect with everyone.

Hello Christyn,  Thank you for introducing yourself.  I see that you had been here in the past and now you signed up again as a new member.   Since you are new here again .... and may have questions and concerns being a transgender this is the right place for you to be to find out what others have done that may have been in your circumstances.

Welcome back Christyn!  It sounds like you are having some success in showing your family a better you.  It takes time in nearly every aspect of transitioning, it is a slow process that with determination and openness can open the eyes of loved ones.

I'm glad to hear you made it back and things are moving forward in your life.  Yes it takes time for the breakout of "Mellow" that we get to sink in with family.

@JudiBlueEyes - thats for sure. My mellow (and I'm sure I'm not alone) came with uncontrollable tears and trips down dark paths that just scared the hell out of me. I'm sure I haven't see the last of days like that, but I'm finding it easier to handle them.

I agree.  I saw parts of myself I never knew existed. There will be good days and not so good ones, just like in everyone's life.  The difficult ones get easier to deal with as time goes on.   BTW, I was an E5 Airedale in the Navy many moons ago.

Hi Christyn!!

I joined the Navy right out of high school (E4 Electrician's mate 3rd class on a destroyer out of Yokosuka, Japan). I joined to get out from under my step-father and in an attempt to "man up" whatever that really means. I was a round peg in a square hole - I could just never reconcile who I was naturally with how others expected me to behave. I give you a major amount of credit that you stayed in, persevered and prospered. I mean Chief! That's great!

Thanks so much. I joined for a lot of the same reasons - try to re-affirm who I thought I was or was supposed to be, maybe it would kick start something i missed - and while I achieved something pretty great, it was at a great cost -

In any case - Thank you for your service! -things are coming around with my family, we have a long road, but we'll get there.
