When I was very young, we (my cousin and I) had an uncle who treated us like this. He ragged on my apparent girly-ness and her negative appearance and we soon got very tired of it. We planned a couple things and finally found our opportunity. One day when he was napping, we got a handful of small rocks and put them in his car's hubcaps (he drove an old car with the old-style caps) and dumped a few cans of sardines on top of the motor. We never told him it was us that did it, but he lost his temper and tried to get us in trouble with our parents (the sardines stunk him up nicely). Our parents didn't like him either, but we were told not to do it again. ;D

Strangely, he never insulted us again. Ever.

P.S.: Don't do what I did....... >:-)

Julia, from the 4 weeks mentioned in the OP, you must be either having your gender confirming surgery now or you have very recently had it.  Congratulations on becoming a woman in body as well as in spirit.

I think that any reasonable person must now accept that you are a woman and that your spirit was always female.  Hopefully, even your uncle and grandfather will realise that their transphobic campaign was futile and misguided.  I hope that they eventually admit their mistake.  If they do, it will be up to you to decide whether they can be forgiven after all you, as well as your father and brother, were put through.

Thank you, Julia, for everything you have written.  Thank you for sharing your experiences and wisdom with frankness and humour.  I hope to read much more in the future.  The real touchstone of good writers is that people like to read what they have written, and you certainly have that gift.

All lives have ups and downs but I wish you a life that is as perfect as is humanly possible, now that you are starting your adult life as a woman in both mind and body.

ohhh Julia... everytime you talk about your demented uncle it makes my blood boil, there should be a way to never see him again.

Hi Alanna,                  21 May 2018

There is, but the consequences are a bit extreme. Eventually, he'll self destruct.

Julia, just ignore him and keep writing your humorous stories.

Hope your treatment has gone better than expected and that you will be home soon.

Best Always, Love,
Christine

Thanks Donna,                  22 May 2018

There are those that mind everyone else's business except their own; think they are called "Busy Bodies," one of the scourges of humankind. Their lives are usually a train-wreck looking for a place to happen.

Hope all is going well Julia; looking forward to you resuming your great posts. If you will let me be your agent, I'll quickly learn how to be one.

Best Always, Love,
Christine
