Which surgeon for my case

Hey everyone.

I had a tracheal shave a year ago and my voice is deeper during resting speech. It sounds like I've been a smoker my whole life. Just the sound of air if I try to sing beyond a flat voice.

I am pretty discouraged to try surgery, but I feel like my case would probably be more suited for that instead of voice feminizing training. I am willing to become a mute if surgery does not go well, because I've already considered it in my current state.

That being said, will I need two surgeries to correct and then improve my voice or could it be done with one procedure ? Does anyone have a surgeon they would recommend for my case ?  I live in the USA, but I am willing to travel.

Thanks

The one I know could fix the problem would be Dr Haben using CTA. One I am unsure of but should be looked at is Dr Thomas. Dr Thomas has a history of larynx reconstruction and it's for that reason I suggest looking at him. There are a few other surgeons that might be possible however I have even less information on them.

I would look on YouTube for James Thomas' voice feminization video. It's a bit graphic if you're bothered by seeing surgical pictures, but towards the end he talks specifically about cases like yours where a trachea shave has caused the vocal cords to become loose or slightly detached and how he can correct such a problem.

Love having had Dr. Haben work my voice over. It was well worth the $$

I encourage you to look at several voice surgeons and not just make your judgements on the best before and afters but to find out what the average result will be like. Also, just be realistic about your expectations.

I had CTA with Dr. Menard when I was 22.  Helped raise my pitch to female norms... undid most of the damage I did trying to make my voice lower.

Too bad he's not in practice anymore.  It worked for me.
