Hi all, I've been on T for 6 months today. I had a blood test done today, last one three months ago. Three months ago, I had been a bit high so the doc and I lowered my dose by a pump. The blood test today shows me well below the bottom of the target range. I'm frustrated as I haven't had changes in the last three months to speak of and thought it was in my head, being impatient. Is it possible for my body to stop absorbing the T gel?

I'm on the gel daily and had chosen it over shots to help with moods since I have bipolar disorder and don't want mood spikes with weekly or biweekly doses.

Aha, that's exactly what my doc did against the initial orders of the supervising endo because she thought free T count was "on the high end". And it ended up being too low as a result of the reduced dose and it had to get put back up the initial number of pumps again by the endo.

Ah, sorry you've been through this too, makes me feel a bit better that it's not just me. I'm back to the six pumps and trying to spread the gel over a bit more surface area and see if that helps with absorption. I had very minor changes in the last three months. Definitely not passing though and I'm very keen to have that happen sooner rather than later. I just thought I'd be a bit further along at this point. Meanwhile, hair is sprouting...slowly.

I have been on gel for years now, and am still getting more facial hair filling so at least for me I haven't had the experience of no more changes from gel, and I have always put it on in the same spots. I don't really think it would be possible for your body to stop absorbing it, but you might want to try putting it on a different area. I am not sure about your gel, but mine lists a couple of spots where I can put it on.

Cheers! I put it on a couple of different areas and over more area now, so hopefully that helps. I'm also thinking back that there may have been a mix up at the pharmacy between 1% gel and 1.6% gel in the early days when I was starting out and wasn't sure what was what. I wish I had taken a picture of the box. I hadn't thought much of it at the time but I think that might be the answer. Meanwhile, my dose has gone up a little but I haven't checked my blood since, will probably wait at least another month.
