Hello everyone, Abbie here!!  I finally had a chance to sit down and create an account. 

A little about myself.  I am a 44 y/o mtf trans women from Upstate, NY, USA.

After getting sober nearly 10 years ago, dealing with illness, depression, changing careers (again. LOL) finally buying a house and moving, I was struck with the need to reevaluate my life and redo a personal inventory. 

In the midst of my inventory, it became very evident to me, the one common tread that I have been trying to deny my entire life.... I TRULY AM TRANS! AND I NEED TO TRANSITION!!  My difficulty, telling my wife of 15 years.  Fortunately, I married the most amazing woman in the world.  We were sitting together in a local restaurant Easter weekend and she noticed something was bothering me.  When she asked me what was the matter, I lost it.  I broke down in tears and told her that I felt I needed to transition.  She took my hands in hers, looked me in the eyes and said; "I'm not surprised. I was wondering when you were going to say that."

For clarification,  she has known about, what I tried so hard for years to be "just crossdressing".  She has always been supportive and helpful, but I wasn't sure if she would be willing to go this far with me.  To my wonder and amazement, she has been even more supportive than before!  That's not too say there haven't been some touchy moments.  But we're working together to get through.

I started HRT on April 2nd, 2018 and I have never been happier!  I look forward to getting to know as many people here as I can!

Hello Abbie,   Congratulations are in order for you.... you started HRT almost 2 months ago and I am very happy for you and will be looking forward to your future posts to tell us how you are progressing.  Updates from members here are an essential part of the Forums.  Furthermore that is certainly good news about coming out to your wife and her acceptance of your transition plans.

I see that you are new here and may have questions and concerns, this is the right place for you to be to find out what others have done that may have been in your circumstances. 
Be aware that there are lots of members here that can identify with the issues that you brought up in your introduction posting. 

WELCOME to Susan's Place.  You will find this a safe and friendly place to share with others  and to read about others similar trials, tribulations, and successes.
It is nice that you have signed up so you can share with others and involve yourself with some give and take with other members.

It's great to hear you're finally starting your journey, Abbie! And what an amazing wife you have! My goodness, just out of the blue like that, incredible!

When it came out to my wife, she had a similar suspicion. My wife always accused me of secretly being gay, though, or at least she thought that was why I tend to act certain ways.

Susans is definitely the place to be for real-world stories and knowledge from fellow sisters (and brothers) of the community!

Thanks everyone! I'm still getting used to everything. I've been having some up days and some down days. But mainly I've been concentrating on my family and my job.

@AbigailW    I was a little concerned that you were not coming back to the Forums after your very first post 3 weeks ago.   Please take the time to look around at all of the different topics here...  I am certain that you will find some of the thread topics of interest to you. ... and you can always start your own new topic by clicking the "New Topic" button.

Please feel free to get involved at your own pace.
By the way, we all have ups and downs... and certainly concentrating on your family and your job are the most important things for you to do right now, but if you do get a spare moment I would love to see you posting on some of the threads that you find interesting.
