Greetings everyone! :) I'd like to introduce myself on this forum as I'm currently looking at taking more concrete steps toward transitioning after having had gender dysphoria since I was 13. I'm now in my 30s and in the last couple of years I decided to approach a gender clinic in the UK (where I live). I've been having counselling and am tentatively exploring HRT and surgery options.

I'm not sure if I'd be a "textbook" case of FTM as I do have some qualities regarded as "feminine", and have mixed feelings about medical transition for myself, but I guess everyone's different. My clinic has suggested I may be described as non-binary but I prefer the term transmasculine, if I must have a label! Or "masculine of centre" perhaps.

I work as a translator (doubly "trans", LOL), and I love synth pop, cats, dandyism and scenic countryside!
I've read this forum for a while and it's nice to hear people's different perspectives, so I wanted to say hi and maybe interact a bit more in the future.

Nice to meet you, NeonOrigami!

Welcome to the forums! I think everyone lurks at least a little bit at first, heh heh I know I was doing basic research on transitioning and kept getting links to posts on Susans, so I eventually had to come over ^_^ And it's awesome being involved in this community, and also having the wonderful support of people here(and also giving your own support out!)

You're right, there's no one way to transition, and since there are many types of guys and girls out there, you never have to be restricted to any one type.  And I remember there's a guy on here, forgot their name(is FtM) who did not and does not intend to get bottom surgery; and I'm MtF and neither do I(currently) what you ultimately want from your transition is bound to change over time, so I would try to be prepared for that.

You can rely on this community to rejoice in your personal victories, to comfort you during rough times, to guide you when you really need it, and to just be friendly so you don't feel so alone.

I hope you love it here, just as much as I do!

Much love,
Eryn
Looking to make and keep friends! Spreading the love, now that I can truly love myself!

Hi Big Kim (I love Blackpool!) and Eryn T! Thanks for your welcome and words of support. It's helpful to see the different ways in which people go about transitioning, or indeed not transitioning, because our situation can feel quite isolating at times.
