I have unfortunately large feet, probably because I'm unfortunately large for a woman (6' 3"). I can usually find clothing that fits, but shoes have always been a sticking point. After lots of searching, I've only found one place that carries shoes that'll fit me, and I'd really like advice on where to find more.

The one place I've found is Avenue in El Cerrito, a clothing store that specializes in plus size clothing. Almost everything in the store is way too big for me, but the shoes fit. I've discovered I can usually wear a 13 wide, but I haven't been able to find anything in that size anywhere else. Some stores carry up to a 13, but I can't quite fit into 'em.

Can anyone recommend a place to look? I'm looking for all styles (from athletic shoes to heels) and I'm very wary of online stores, I don't want to buy something I can't try on.

I agree you have to try on shoes but some of the on-line stores allow you to do that in your own home. They pay shipping in both directions. http://www.zappos.com for example. I often buy the same shoe in a couple of sizes and return the one I don't want. I just did a search at Zappos for women's size 13W and I got 5 pages of hits.

That's not a bad idea, and I'll definitely look into it. At the same time, it seems like one more way I can't be like most other women :-/

Well, you would be like me and my daughter. In other words, like any woman who is hard to fit. There are a lot of us.

you are not by your self Lauren. i too have the same problem .  but with out really looking or even

thinking. i one i was going around walmarts. and heppened to be in the shoes area.  which i just happened

to look down . and what i found  just happened to be a number of pairs of shoes and heels in my size. well

need less to say i got 2 pair,s that day . and well everysince then i have been getting my shoes from

walmart,s or payless. so there is hope lauren
