Do you like belts? Do you wear belts? Do you match your belt to your shoes? Do you ever NOT match your belt to your shoes, and under what circumstances? Is it absolutely tacky to match shoes, belt, AND shirt?

Where do you find cool belts? Where do you find cool belt buckles?

Tell me everything you know about belts.

I never wore belts in girl mode. I never had a shoe collection, either.

I have a brown belt with brown hiking shoes. That's it. If I need to be dressed up... I cange my shoes to black.  And a black belt.

I pick out my belts based on what appeals to me, color and design. Right nowI don't tuck in my shirt but I do try to coordinate with my clothes. I have many, many belts and buckles. I really like belts.com and they have sales around every holiday and a decent clearance selection.

I always wore belts, usually plain black leather with silver tone buckles, nothing fancy in the design dept, but the better quality the longer they tend to last.

I've always worn belts, especially ones with detachable belt buckles which I occasionally change around.  I prefer black belts since black goes with everything.  Currently, my everyday belt is a black one with a pokeball on my belt buckle, but I also have a TARDIS belt buckle for when the new season of Doctor Who starts in the autumn.  ;D

I also tend to get belts I think are cool.  I have a black one with multiple silver grommets similar to this one:

And I'm debating on getting one with spikes or steel pyramids or something cool.  Once a Goth, always a Goth. :D

Ugh, I need to find a nice grommet belt. I thought I found one, but it had two buckles on it.  >:( Weirdest belt ever.

Belts.com is pretty sweet. Thanks!

I was poking around Etsy and found some interesting results. There are a lot of wild belts from the 80s that are awesome, but I'm not sure if I could pull off the look.

On my search for goth belts, I was not impressed with the belts at Rivithead.

I did find myself a bright yellow "fragile/handle with care" tape belt. How awesome this belt is depends upon how big I can get my muscles. ;)

I think a belt is practically a necessity when wearing a dress shirt and tucking it in, it looks pretty awful not to wear one. At the moment my smart shoes are tan, dark brown and navy suede and yeah I have a belt that matches all of them. I always look out for a belt the same colour when I buy a new pair of shoes, it looks looks more put together. I'll occasionally wear a dark brown belt with the blue shoes but otherwise they always match.

My belts are generic and unfortunately because I'm the size of a stick I don't have the opportunity to explore the wide variety of cool ones and have to hunt for one that will actually fit me instead. I'm from the UK so I usually get them from Next or New Look.

Haha I think I've told you everything I know about belts. Oh, buy good quality ones. Don't bother with the cheapy faux leather it won't last 10 days of wear.

Before I transitioned I had about one belt, actually one like the picture @Ryuichi13 posted with the metal holes, that I was obsessed with. Didn't have a shoe collection. I'd have one pair of trainers that I'd wear until they fell apart and then replace them with another.

Yeah...I had a cheap belt before.  It split and broke after a few times wearing it.  Its worth it to get a real leather belt.

I'm actually hoping to find another one similar to the one I'm currently using, since the black is starting to wear off of my favorite belt.  :(  Maybe I can find one at the anime con I'm going to next month, I found my current favorite at a Steampunk booth a few years ago.

The majority of the "cool" belts you'd pick up at a mall stand for example are pressed and glued so will disintegrate within a year, guaranteed. To clarify, that is anything stamped "genuine leather". Its definitely worthwhile to invest in a couple full grain (even top grain) leather belts, they will last decades. And I'm sure you can find them with the snap closure for the buckles.

Most "dress code" for work, and higher social strata virtually everywhere, demands that you match your belt and shoes (and we're talking about leather uppers here, not sneakers). Even in "casual" setting, its still advisable to more or less match IF your belt's visible.

Otherwise, you also can't go wrong ("casually") with web belts. They also hold up very well (and are far more adjustable).

I had the hardest time with belts, until I bought a men's belt. It's perfect.

I wear this belt (black leather) with everything. My shoes are grey/black too though. I don't think it's tacky to match shoes, belt and shirt - whatever makes you feel good :)

I found my belt in a chain fashion store, I think the brand is Jack & Jones.

Edit: I just checked - the brand's Petrol Industries.
