With his retirement, Trump will almost certainly fill his slot with a rabid conservative hell-bent on depriving rights to LGBT citizens, especially the T's.

I am worried the transgender community has many, many tough years ahead, tougher than I even imagined before.

The Court has had a conservative majority for a long time.  And it's now going to swing very sharply to the right.  This is NOT good!

The days of looking to the federal courts to protect the rights of sexual/gender minorities in the United States are coming to an end.

This gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. It is devastating. For anyone who thinks this will not affect the lives of trans people, wake up.
If I ever offend you, let me know. It's not what I am about.

What should be be asking for? A Democrat or a Republican? I say neither as we want a judge that interprets the law as it was written. If the law is wrong, complain to congress and have it fixed. You may ask with the constitution only 4 pages long, how do we know what freedoms the founding fathers want us to have.

After the constitution was written, it needed to be voted on by the people. To sell it to the people, they turned to the high tech communication device of the day, the newspaper. All of the writings were preserved and I think the best book on the subject of The Federalist Papers is this one.. The forward alone was worth the price of the book and the text has been spelling corrected with references explained so a modern reader can easily understand the text.

It's available in paper back and electronic form so you can take it anywhere. My opinion is anybody who argues law should have a copy of it. On the other hand, if your really short on cash, the older version of the text is available for free on the internet.
