Traditionally black has been taboo at a wedding but not so much anymore.
I think the four most important rules would be.
Don't outshine the bride.
Don't wear a color that the bridal party is wearing.
Don't have an excess of flesh exposed.
Never, ever wear all white unless someone is giving you a ring and you are speaking vows.
I think that dress is fine. Straight lines and an undemonstrative classic look that should fit in fine for most wedding unless the invitation mentions something more specific.
Used to be you weren't supposed to wear white unless you were a virgin. Women would often settle for an off white however today that rule is out the window and women with several kids many still wear white because they want the moment.

If you can't accept yourself,  how can you expect others to accept you?

Just to be clear it's NOT my day, I'm just a guest.

for a spring/summer wedding, its usually best to rock some pastels or floral prints.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

It's a nice cut/style that looks good on you but, black at a wedding (at least in western cultures)?  No.  I assume it's a summertime wedding?  Something lighter colored, or even a darker colored red would do.  No business oriented colors though.

Howdy, some friends helped me pick out a new dress. It was black with white designs around it. I have a single photo, but it's not very flattering so I'd rather not post it.

Thanks for everyone's help with this.
