I hope everyone here has been doing well. I had GRS and I'm pretty much recovered though I still have some minor swelling. I can also pee pretty much normally now. I had no idea how difficult it would be to actually pee and have it go into the toilet rather than spraying all over. The surgery went very well. I was surprised by the fact I wasn't in a lot of pain. I was expecting a lot of pain after surgery but thankfully I didn't have a lot. My dad, Tristan and Tyler all came with me so I had my most loved loved ones with me which helped me not to be so scared.

Dilating is no fun and is still slightly uncomfortable but getting better. Dilating isn't fun but it's a small price to pay to be anatomically correct. It's also very nice that I can be completely nude in front of Tristan. We haven't had intercourse yet though. The Dr told me I needed to wait at least 6 months before I have sex. But I wouldn't have enough depth to take all of Tristan yet anyway.  My grandparents came over as soon as we got back to Denver and my grandpa was very nice actually.  Even my hateful uncle sent me flowers and a get well soon card. But no doubt it was his wife who was responsible. I totally can't see my uncle doing that. Of course every garden has to have one weed. My mom called my dad after we got back and asked him what the total cost had been. My surgery, airfare for 4 people, 2 hotel rooms and food expenses came to almost $28,000. My mom went nuts and asked my dad how he could "waste" that kind of money and told him he was an idiot and blah, blah until he hung up on her. Nice to know my mother considers something I needed to have a normal life a waste of money.

So that's what I've been up to for the last few weeks. I hope everyone here has been doing well.

Hi, Julia

I bet you must feel happy, and probably a bit relieved, even though it will still take a few months to fully heal.
It's nice to see you back. I've missed you...

Dear Julia:
Well wowzers!!  You have returned...  it is nice to see your smiling Avatar again and to hear that you are alive and well, and you are again sharing your life events with all of your followers and readers here on the Forums.

As we all know here from reviewing the various forums discussions, our own parents and immediate family can be the biggest difficulty and obstacle in acceptance of our transition goals.  Please don't allow anger and resentment control your life.  You can not control how they react but you have complete control of how you handle it....  unlike friends and acquaintances that can come and go, they will always be your mom and dad.

So, back to your welcome back..... you asked how everyone here is doing and what have we been up to.... well, we are still here, dealing with our own ups and downs... and we mostly have been doing well.  Take some time, sit down on a comfy chair and with a cup of tea or coffee.... go though the member's threads that you have normally followed...  and perhaps read some new threads too.

It is wonderful to see you again, and to hear your positive report about your medical procedures.   Heal fast and please keep us updated.

Hugs and well wishes...
Danielle

Congratulations Julia! So happy for your successful surgery. Good to hear that it was somewhat painless and your recovery is going well. Hope the remainder of your recovery goes as well as everything else. So nice to see Tristan and Tyler being on your side through all this. Such kind of support is just outstanding.

Don't worry about your mom's comments. From the little bit you talked about your dad, he supported your surgery without any hesitation both mentally and financially. It is all a matter of how important such an expense is to anyone. We have spent almost $75k on non-trans related voluntary medical expenses and while it seems a lot, so far we have not regretted a single cent of it.

Good luck with the remainder of your recovery.

Don't worry about your mom.  Maybe she's just jealous that your Dad spent that amount of money on his beloved daughter and not on her!

So glad everything went well for you and the family otherwise!  Even with the aunt and uncle.  So happy for you and Tristan too!  Just take your time and heal well, okay?  I know that kids your age seem to want to "jump into sex," but listen to your doctor.  Do everything that they said to do, including the six month wait!

So thrilled that you're finally a woman "down there" and that your body matches you!  :)  Congrats!

Welcome back!
