Was wondering if anyone has any experience with hair systems that are attached your head with medical adhesive. Ive been thinking about this for awile on how to address my hair.  I have standard male pattern baldness indentions on both sides in the front some hair loss in the back on the crown and at 52 my hair is thinner and finer.

Im afraid that having the scalp advancement and or hair transplant will just move my already thin hair over a greater distance and i will end up with just much thinner hair.

My hair  in the back is about 4" below the shoulders and the other is catching up to it but with really fine hair trying to make a pony tail once its gatherered up there is not enough volume to make it not look riduculous.
Im not fully out yet and happen to own a small construction company so at the moment i always have a ball cap on trying to contain the hair but its so long now that its hard to keep from looking like a mess when meeting with clients and just out and about, really embarressed now with how messy it is .

So my thoughts at the moment was one of the hair systems, it would give me hair i could put into a pony while working and would not be all over the place especially when outside and windy. I could get a feminine hair cut and when not working off goes tha ball cap and the hair can be down, and if need to be in somewhat of male mode up into a pony tail.

The best of both worlds for the present time.

My concerns is with most of those systems they shave your head where they attach them and you will end up eventually with conctact alopecia and permanent hairloss. ALso the cost, you have to go in every 2 to 6 weeks have them serviced.

The positives, its just like your own hair, its real human hair, you can swim, exercise, wash and style it just like its your own hair never worry about it falling off.

Any information or experience with these systems would be much appreciated

Love you all

I haven't used anything other than a wig but from what I understand the ones that glue to your head can get rather smelly as the result of a months dead skin under them. It's also likely the could get pretty itchy for more or less the same reason. I don't know how long you have been on HRT but sometimes there is regrowth and the other option might be to consider bangs. I did't develop much patter baldness but there is enough that I don't want to wear my hair back so bangs or wearing my hair forward works well.

Have you thought of transplanting beard hair to your head?

I started about 6 months ago doing BHT (body hair transplant), with Dr Jeffrey Epstein in Miami (he also has an office in NYC)and it is almost a Win-Win situation as you get hair permanently removed with no scarring and transplanted via FUE to your bold spots.   The hair can be transplanted from anywhere on your body such as legs, chest etc, but at this point I am pretty much hairless except for the beard which was slowing being removed via electrolysis and it has worked out fantastic !

The cost is the same as FUE would be but you get the removal at the same time and the beard hair is thicker and makes more volume, there is a limit of you much they can transplant as if it is too much it would not look natural but after I have my FFS, he will take hair from the nape and use it to cover the head incision and the normal front MPB.

I was going to follow the same path as you and it sound like I even had less hair than you, but I decided that instead of spending the money with hair systems and was going to spend it on my own hair,  so far I have done about 2200 follicles , they will be transplanting 2000 more in September and then around 2200 head hair to finish up around February 2019.

So far I am very happy and Dr Epstein and staff have been extremely professional, accepting and honest.  Let me know if like some additional info asI may have some pictures of before.

Disclaimer: I met Dr Epstein while looking for options and have no business nor personal relationship with him other than being a satisfied patient .

I would recommend him 100%.

I have never heard of transplanting hair from other parts of the body, I thought it all came from donor locations on the head . I will add this also as an option to look into

Thanks

Transplanting beard hair has two problems. It would scar your face at the donor site and it's different type of hair that what grows on your head. For a while they though about using body hair but it had the same issue. Head hair is rather special on the body because it grows long and it's not as wiry as hair found elsewhere on the body.

I have had two rounds of hair transplants...transplanted from the back of my head to the front of my head to deal with my MPB. I had this done of two procedures and had about 3000 grafts. I would still like to do another 2000 just to thicken things up a bit.

There is no substitute for having your own hair...no matter how good the artificial hair is, it will always require maintenance is my understanding. The cost will vary depending on surgeon and technique. I have had no hair loss or further issues with balding. If you check out my thread here

Thank You Dena and Elizabeth and Renee  Im going to do a lot more research on all options before I decided on how to proceed. Im just at a point now where I have just let my ride for the last 4 years trying to grow it out and now its starting to upset me that it is such mess and I need to move forward with something so I can feel more confident about myself. Thank you all for responding

As I understand it there was some scarring when they first started doing BHT and using the face as the donor site, but I and another friend from Susan's who has seen my face have not notice any.

True, if you do have enough donor hair it would be best to use it as it would have exactly the same texture, but the way it was explained is that the beard or other donor hair is intermixed with head hair to increase the volume without affecting the feel of the hair too much.

If you are in no hurry, wait another year or so and I will be happy to give you an objective evaluation on the procedure.
