I know that sexual arousal from wearing women's clothes for MTF crossdressers is a common thing. For a long time that is all that I thought I was. In my younger days I was very turned on by wearing women's clothes...there was almost always a sexual component attached. Over time that diminished and I realized that I had more going on then just the clothes and that I was trans. But even now into my mid 40's I still have moments when I find myself getting erections when I put on certain types of women's clothes. A pair of hose or tights or a cute pink sweater still gives me a jolt. And when I put on lipstick or put a hair clip in I still get excited. Sometimes I worry about that and wonder if I have some transvestic fetishism stuff going on. However, I'd like to think that any arousal that I derive from doing feminine things is simply attached to my deep love of feeling like and being a girl. I mean I truly do love everything about being a girl. I love looking pretty, wearing cute clothes, smelling good, painting my nails and just being a girly girl. But I still do worry about the arousal thing. Should I be though? Anybody else experience this?

If you still have testosterone running through your system, I'd be surprised if there still wasn't a sexual component involved.

Even with testosterone, when you wear them only now and then, briefly, yes you get aroused, at least that was the thing for me.

But when I started to use solely womens clothing and transitioned, it kind of became ordinary thing and there wasn´t anything to be aroused anymore.

I don´t necessarily think, that arousal from womens clothing has nothing to do with sexual thing itself, it´s just that it is something that is forbidded, something you need keep hidden. That is exciting in itself.

There may be something deeper to this arousal-
My trauma therapist explained that people often mistake masturbation as being tied  to sexuality. Children also do this for pleasure, to learn about their body and as a way comfort themselves. I am a survivor of childhood psychological and sexual abuse with Dissociative Identity/Multiple Personality Disorder. My mind developed a female alter to cope with the abuse. Womens clothing and makeup are the norm for her. Another part of my mind is triggered into sexual arousal by them.  She has dressed this way 2 days a week for nearly ten years.  A complex response intertwined with having been forced to wear my grandmother's clothes when I was raped, the sexual response only comes on a handful of time a year. I am not far enough along in therapy to understand the circumstances that trigger it.

@heather3791   I hear what your saying, and you didn't mention any feelings of dysphoria so, I suppose I would have to be a bit daring here and say - If you can live as male but really like the components of being a women then maybe for you its as simple as making a choice about what you want to live as. A man, a women, a man that mixes components of both genders or a man that dress's occasionally.
Cis woman do in fact mention how sensual certain clothing feels so quite natural for transwomen to feel the same.

See here's the thing. I LOVE to wear cute adorable clothes.. and in the mirror I can acctually see an attractive, shapely lady looking back.  I love feeling & looking sexy and there's definitely a sexual component to feeling sexy. 

I have NO testosterone in my system and arguably never did from the date it was first measured (except a couple rare flukes that caused it to be in normal female limits).

I've been 'dressing up' since I was 4 or 5 so I'm pretty sure its  not a crossdresser thing for me.  What can I say, I'm just some weird sexually charged lesbian that loves looking adorable.  Its even better when someone loves my outfit or says I look beautiful.

I don't think its that unusual even in the cis populace, just rarely discussed.  Doesn't make it right or wrong.. its just me.  I'm also a post op yet intersexed gal if that makes a whit of difference.
