Hello guys,

This is my first post and was just hoping one of you guys could throw some light on this matter.

Since I started on T just over a year ago I have been itching something chronic. I spoke to the doctor who is prescribing my T about this and she said she had never had anyone mention this before. She got a book out and looked through it and said that apparently this can be a side effect of testosterone injections. The areas where the itches are mainly are where my hair is now growing through which, I suppose does make sense (buttocks, stomach, face).

I have had 3 diffferent doctors in the last year as the first one left to work with children, so I had a temporary doctor for a few months (who advised me to switch to Nebido) The new doctor I am seeing has told me this (itching) can be a sign of liver damage. My blood test results for liver function test say that my liver is fine. All my other results are great too, been told my cholesterol levels are the best she has ever seen. Does any one know how accurate these results are? I have imbibed rather large quantities of the intoxicating liquor in my past

I was originally on Sustanon and my serum testosterone levels were quite low but ok according to my doctor. Since being switched to (on supposedly good advice) Nebido  my serum testosterone readings have rocketed to (previous test) 28.30nmo/L and now to 32.2nmo/L which apparently is way too high and possibly dangerous levels.

Anyhow, I just wondered if any of you guys have had the itching? It hasn't got any worse since my levels shot up.

Sorry if I am not allowed to put my testosterone readings on here and I will remove them if necessary.

John, interesting post. I haven't heard of anyone else with your complaint without an allergy present. I would ask your doctor to test your histamine levels to confirm that you aren't reacting on an allergic level. Did your symptoms develop immediately or upon starting the different type of T? If it is consistent reaction present with different types of testosterone and lots then it doesn't sound like an allergic reaction but could still be one. If it is restricted to one type, then I would assume an allergic reaction and return to other dosing method. There could still be a common ingredient that you are reacting to. You could try an antihistamine and if that resolves your symptoms all the better. You could also be dealing with a different allergy that isn't related to your testosterone usage.

If a classic allergy can be ruled out then yes evaluate your liver. Try a couple of different liver tests to confirm, but without signs of damage to the liver, it most likely can be ruled out. You could always have your liver imaged to be sure though. Just as likely as your liver could be your immune or nervous systems.

The only other option that I can consider would be to stop the testosterone and see whether this eliminates the problem. If it does- then we are either dealing with a T problem or somatic issue. You could try reintroducing the irritant and see if a lesser dose would relieve the symptoms. Otherwise you need to evaluate what is more important itching and T or no itching and no T. Good luck and keep up to date, I am interested to know what the trigger is for you.

Yeah I had itchy problems. It moves around. It was my face for a while. Currently it's my butt. It's rather more socially acceptable to scratch your face in public. I guess it depends on how bad it is, but it seems like some itching is normal. No rash or anything with it, I take it?

I think it may be something to do with the hair follicles suddenly sprouting hair because I no longer have itching on the areas which now have decent hair growth, chin, tash stomach, butt was already hairy up the crevice (sorry, I know, too much information) but got a lot of itching on butt cheeks. I have never had a rash on any of the itchy areas.
