I have used Rose for many years when I was in London, since realising I can no longer be "Andy" I went through my usual OCD process of looking for a name that is "me". I am no longer Rose and the name I keep coming back to is Sarah, I find myself practicing my signature and I created a new gmail for who I am becoming.

One thing I thought would be "right" to do and bear with me as this is something of a story.

My father was a really good man, no one could ask for a better father in your life. Although he was traditional and a product of his times, I think he would still love me and accept me for becoming Sarah. He was that kind of man.

His mother's name is "Annie" and in remembrance of her, my sisters middle name is Anne. When we were going through my fathers possessions after he passed. I found an old photograph. An unknown women, wearing victorian dress. No one knew who she was. She meant something to my dad as he had this old weathered photo. I found it sad that no one knew who she was. So, being an engineer and OCD, I set out to find out who she was. If it meant something to my dad, it means something to me.

So I would love to introduce everyone to my great-great grandmother, Annie Roper. She was a powerhouse of a woman, born in 1878 and died in 1938. She had 11 kids and was a matriarch to her family. She was amazing.

I think it's a shame that no one knows who this amazing woman was. So to honour her, my new name is going to be.

Sarah Annie Thornton.

My dad would have been proud, family meant everything to him. I feel good knowing her story hasn't ended and she's part of me from this point on.

Sarah,
That is a lovely story which I thank you for sharing and a beautiful name.

Peace,
Julie
I began this journey when I began to think, but it took what it took for me to truly understand the what and the why of authenticity.  I'm grateful to have found a path that works and to live as I have always dreamed.

The dates are unimportant and are quite stale now.  The journey to truth is fresh and never ends.

Dear Sarah Annie Thornton....  A very touching and heartfelt story for sure.

To get the ball rolling on your name change here on the Forums ... here is the procedure...

changing your profile forum name is a simple process... but will take action from one of the staff members.

>>> You need to go to the following thread on the Forums....
              https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,196460.0.html

Once there, look through the past posts and see how the procedure is handled.   Then you can put in your request for the changes that you desire.

I like your new proposed name... I also have enjoyed reading your postings since you became a member 3 weeks ago.

Hugs and well wishes for you, Sarah Annie Thornton
Danielle

I wanted to choose a name that felt more like me.  It took some time for me to consider a list of names that felt right.  Danielle is fairly close to my first name, although not exactly.  My femme middle name is merely the feminine version of my assigned middle name.  In choosing my first and middle female names I get to keep my original initials and that feels just right to me.

maybe it's because I just started HRT and something of a mess, but thanks everyone, lot of tears lately, not unhappy ones though. My wife finds it funny how emotional I get, I would burst into tears while cooking because the carrots look unhappy and have no idea what I am about to do to them!

Hugs all, you are all amazing.

Sarah Annie, congratulations on choosing your name.  What a sweet tribute to your ancestor!

Enjoy those emotions.  Isn't is great to finally feel after all those years?

Holy crap there's a lot of Sarahs here... Fun fact- Sarah my birth name and the one I still use. (But I still like to be called Sally on here because I like the name and so people don't get confused.)
