I would simply go to a bigger shop and buy it.  Many times you can try it before you buy it there.  Who will stop you anyhow ?
Some places would call security if a man tried to try on women's clothes. So far, I've only tried things on at Target, where there's only one group of fitting rooms. Other places have dedicted men's & women's rooms. These places can be a bit trickier.

There's really no trick to it.  If you're a man, you go to the men's changing room.  If you're a woman, you go the women's.  They can't stop you for going in the proper dressing room.  If you're worried about security not letting you in, bring some men's clothing with you for cover.  I've tried on many things way and no one has ever said a thing.

That's a clever trick indeed.

Exactly. And many shops where I go there is no difference anymore between then men and women area to try things.  They also don't give you a ticket that tells you you took 5 pieces with you.

Well. Easy topic for me. I started out stealth dressing for bed, and that included wearing panties and a men's T-shirt to bed in hopes my wife would not notice. That has evolved, to where I now wear cozy flannel full length nightgowns on chilly nights or flannel PJ's, and in warmer weather either light cotton floral pj's or cami and short sets with lots of lace. And I always wear panties under my nighties. I have slept so much better since I switched to 100% full time women's sleepwear. My wife has now resumed sleeping with me. She wouldn't for a while, because she thought it was "too confusing" to share a bed with me in my cute, cozy women's sleepwear. Now, as long as I don't try to initiate any sexual play, she's OK with my PJ's and nighties.  :)

If I'm in shopping mode I just bring a tape measure.  I know exactly what fits and what doesn't after years of Ebay shopping for women's clothes that more or less look like Men's XS clothes.  I can also hold my outstretched hand against a shirt and figure out whether it is going to float on me or not.  When I bought my first dress I just held it up found it was the perfect length.  Just above the knee.

I wear panties 24/7 and started wearing a knee length slip to bed, my wife was not too happy the first time but since this really hot weather she has not mentioned it.

Been wearing nightdresses for years. I also have a pair of pink PJs for those really cold nights.

Virginia

My Mom wore mens pajamas for as long as I can remember. Used to drive my old man nuts...

I wear satin pajamas from Victoria's Secret or Pajama Gram over panties every night.  To me, they are the best thing to wear when you sleep on satin sheets.  And they feel wonderful right after I've shaved my legs.
