Hey there, I'm pretty sure this is my first post here! I'm a 20 year old FTM who has been on T for almost 3 years.
I'm just wondering if any have shared my experiences when it comes to pharmacy/doctor frustrations. I must note that my doctor has always been extremely respectful and knowledgable about medically transitioning - but the office she works out of is poorly organized. Once a month, I'm allotted 200 mg/mL of testosterone for my doses, which does NOT provide me with 4 whole shots - the last shot is always short of testosterone because of the space between the needle's point and where the plunger ends. In theory, I should be able to do a month's worth of shots with one bottle, but in reality, that isn't the case. Every shot has testosterone lost in the in-betweens of my syringe.
That being said, I have explained this to my doctor and she basically disregarded what I had said (that it was difficult/impossible to get a fourth shot out of the bottle) and told me that it's possible to use it for an entire month. On top of that, the pharmacy her office is connected to is slow, understaffed, and irresponsible. When I need refills authorized, I have to call twice to make sure someone actually put the request in, as they will said one thing and do another. I'm currently a day late for my shot this week and running on half a shot from last week. I can feel the fatigue that is caused by the lack of testosterone creeping in. If the pharmacists had put in the request when I called last week, I might actually have been able to dose correctly today!
Not only is getting my testosterone a hassle, but getting correctly sized needles as well. I just want a streamlined process. This post is a total whine-fest, but oh well. I've been keeping this in for a while now, as not many people I know can relate at all.
