What an interesting morning. A boy at the school I work at came in with his hair done into a point on the front. He said he was a unicorn today, it's a spirit day of some sort. While we did our before school activities, we began discussing favorite colors; his were pink and purple. Of course another boy and a little girl immediately start making fun of him for liking "girl" colors. I intercede and look at them and say; "colors don't have a gender, he likes what he likes. Besides, I like black and blue, does that make me a boy?" The boy looked all shocked, and said no, as did the other students. The youngest girl, however, says "You look like a boy." I simply said, "We can't all be born pretty." She never misgenders me, so I found this statement humorous.
They also asked me why I wasn't there yesterday, which was because of lasering my face. I of course told them about it, and received the question "Did you die?" from one of the youngest in my group.
Sometimes, children say the darndest things.
