My therapist advised me to seek out a trans friendly PCP so I can get things started for some simple transition steps (hair removal to start with), I may want to explore more in the future (hrt maybe...) depending on how things go. My insurance covers 100% of trans stuff because my employer is awesome, so I'd like to use it.
I called the healthcare company, called the insurance provider, and all I got was a list of out of network doctors (2 in a moi blue city of over 2M people) and a list of alternative medicine doctors (yea thanks but no) respectively.
Side note, I've never been too bothered by "he" and "sir", maybe a twinge here or there, mostly I just get happy about the accidental "she" I get from behind. This time getting "sir"ed on the phone felt like a ton of bricks... that's new.
How did you go about finding a PCP to work with without being someone's training wheels? Am I down to calling random doctors offices and seeking out trans co-workers (I'm very not out at work)?
